Juno

Just saw it on Saturday. I thought it was very entertaining and well done. Allison Janney and JK Simmons (sp?), who play Juno's parents, stole the show to a good degree.

The only bad thing was seeing it in a theater filled with young teenage girls. They all got squeenmish during the ultrasound. Actually just during the part where the tech. squeezed the lube on Juno's belly.

I haven't seen it because it's not playing in my area. But I did think that it looked as though it could be good, as it deals with a subject not often entertained in movies.

I'm looking forward to seeing it this weekend. Along with Atonement.

You suck. Neither are playing in my area at the moment. I think Juno will be a Netflix'er for me. Cute but not theater worthy.

It appears to me that both "Juno" and "Knocked Up" are pro-Life movies produced by Catholic Church.
Brainwashing at it's best.

I assume you're kidding. Oh wait, strike that, I forgot who you were. Have you seen these movies?

Saw Juno last Friday--it was actually hard to get a ticket. It was good, but not great. A lot of people seem to be calling it "this year's Little Miss Sunshine," but I think that was better. Or at least funnier.

Does anyone else strongly dislike Kimya Dawson's music? It worked OK in the movie, but I find it grating. I bet if you like those songs, and you're over 16, you also like Joanna Newsom's music.

Caught it last night and, not to be a downer, but I found it to be Indiewood mumblecore at its worst. It's emotionless, manufactured quirk and the last ten minutes of humanity wasn't enough to wash away the bitter taste of the obnoxious dialogue and "hip" characters.

I thought that the first 30 minutes of contrived "clever" dialogue was so brutally annoying that I almost walked out of the theater, but I think the humanity kicked in for a good 40 minutes or so and made the experience less that completely terrible.

Uggh, these responses are not going to dissuade me from seeing it. Well, they might.

I don't totally disagree with you. Her character was too "quirky" for me. All the others (off the top of my head) seemed real. Again, I loved the parents.

Saw it last night, and I thought it was great; not as good as Little Miss Sunshine though.

The characters were brilliant, Ellen Page did an amazing job and was adorable as Juno, but I think J.K. Simmons had my favourite performance of the movie.

[MILD SPOILER]
The scene with Juno and Michael seemed too misplaced, as if it was placed there merely for the controversial/squeam factor and taken too far for the sake of taking it too far.

Tried too hard to be "Napoleon Dynamite" in the beginning but missed badly. I don't care for quirk-for-quirk's-sake, which this film had in abundance. About halfway through, it got cute/touching, but I only laughed once the whole film. Ellen Page is a terrific actress though.

I really didn't think Little Miss Sunshine was all that great. It was good and all, i just think most people only see the big budget movies that generally suck and once a independent film with a super popular cast member (steve correll) gets popularity, people get all wet. It was good, but hardly amazing. I haven't seen Juno yet, but i'm hoping it'll be good. I don't expect it to be amazing or anything. But it just doesn't seem like there have been that many really good movies in a long time so i'm sure it'll seem better.

I'm going to echo this sentiment.

I thought Kinnear was better in LMS than Carell.

I want to see what the quiet kid in that movie does in There Will Be Blood.
