Which blazer for olive waistcoat?

First time on this so go easy, I have purchased a green donegal waistcoat for the upcoming horse races and would like some opinions on how best to work it as a "separate"

Can I wear this with a brown herringbone tweed blazer? Or are the colours too close? If I can which colour trousers (or pants for the ears my American bretheren) should I go with?

OR Can I wear it with a charcoal blazer and light grey dress pants, light grey tie and tan shoes and belt etc?

What do you guys think?

Thanks!

Why on earth have you bought this questionable garment without any clue what to wear with it? Either take it back and start again or else go to a bricks and mortar shop and choose something. Web opinions are irrelevant - you are wearing it and we have no idea about your features, hair colour etc or indeed whether you are going to the races to sell ice cream or something else useful.

Well GBR thanks for your obnoxious and unhelpful comment there, I really appreciate your input. I bought it because I liked it, and would most likely wear it with chinos. I was merely reaching out for an opinion.

Welcome to the forum, Stinny. Don't mind GBR...he pops in once in a while to post a few rude and unhelpful comments and then dissapears. You should be able to wear that with a brown herringbone jacket. If you're still unsure, post a pic in the "new member inquiries" thread and we'll let you know what we think. Cheers.

But GBR has a point. Buying something just because one "likes" it is a core problem that leads to dilemmas just like this.

An odd tweed waistcoat is almost inescapably costume. There is really no good way to wear it without looking silly.

Yes he does, but it's the way he goes about telling people.

You can say any odd waist coat is costume, but they can look good when done right. Definitely not with a charcoal blazer and grey trousers as the OP suggested.

It's not an easy look to pull of, Stinny.

Noted and appreciated, it will be going back to the shop, I am fan of mixing tweeds and patterns together but I don't think this one's quite right with the colours I have in stock

Thanks and that, but I realised why I haven't posted on here before, I like dressing well and not getting it right is something that happens from time to time, and I would rather figure it out myself than have some jumped up p**** like GBRs opinion!
