Nice job on the photography.

Most of the fits from Day 1 are garbage. What is this thing with a cape and suits made out of carpets? And who is the creepy Victorian-era guy with the beard? Is he a real person?

We seem destined by fate to have this conversation every year, so I'll oblige. This is Pitti. Pitti Uomo is a place for commerce (something like 25K buyers attended the last one), and I hear people say "but there are lots of well, and normally dressed people at Pitti", which is true, incidentally, as a way of deflecting this criticism. But I think that such a defense is unnecessary.

Because Pitti is also theatre. To criticize Pitti attendee outfits outside the prism of theatre is missing the mark. You may as well criticize operas because the plots are too predictable, or a musical because people would sound stupid in real life constantly breaking out in song. While both are true, they are irrelevant in proper context. Think of Pitti that way, rather than as "what would I consider to be a good outfit in my quotidian life", and you'll be happier appreciating Pitti for what it is.

What Fok said is, I think, the right way to think about Pitti. Nevertheless some that stuff looks bad even in context.

Absolutely agree with Fok. However I love reading all the Pitti-hate posts too. Why? Because, well, hatin' on SF is part of the deal, innit.

I mean, you wouldn't criticise opera plots for being too predictable, would you?

So let's just enjoy SF for what it is: a bunch of semi-deranged menswear nerds taking our favourite subject way too seriously.

It was a real pleasure meeting you guys as well! We will try to find some time to come to Turku to see you guys and your shops there. Pretty perfect, since Erica has a lot of family living so close by.
