I was just about to post this...

Looks like Doc Holliday is quick on the draw!

The Dark Knight is gonna rule.

The last Batman movie was quite good. This one looks right in the middle. I don't have sound right now but the Joker looks kinda lame.

Best movie poster ever:

Michael Cain:
Quote:
"I tell you the big surprise in the new "˜Batman' "” Heath Ledger as the Joker," Caine told reporters in New York Tuesday. "He's fantastic. He's gone in a different direction than Jack (Nicholson) ... Jack was like a really scary old, nasty old uncle with a funny face. Heath is like the most murderous psychopath you've ever seen on the screen," Caine said.

I'm so totally against this. I whole-heartedy maintain that after Nicholson, there should be a law against subsequent filmic incarnations of the Joker, so perfect was his performance. Batmen can come and go, as far as I'm concerned, but Jack Nicholson as the Joker is like the platonic ideal of casting, on par with Brando as Don Vito Corleone. Heath Ledger looks like some goon from Worcester who got roughed up at an Insane Clown Posse show.

Jack Nicolson played Jack Nicolson in a Joker costume.

Joker in the best Batman comics(The Dark Knight Returns included) had little charm.

my point exactly. The Jack Nicholson persona and the Joker character is the best fit in the history of cinema (Orson Welles / Charles Foster Kane is a close second), they are the very same archetype, one just comes from comic books the other lives in Hollywood.

I agree. Jack was the perfect man to play The Joker. Besides, the man is positively insane. Still, I don't think there's a single person in hollywood with more character.

I seem to recall a rumor at the time of the first Batman movie that David Bowie had been in the running to play the Joker. I think he would have been great in that role.

How about another pop legend? Michael Jackson wouldn't even have needed makeup... or how about Mark Hamill, as a live-action Joker????

Hmm. Jack as the Joker was incredible. But I will give Heath a chance.
