Clubs, gay or straight, are lame 95% of the time. My favourite place to hang out is a restaurant 1 block away from my campus that is PACKED on the weekends. They have a great beer selection, good food, lots of nice girls, and a noise level that is conducive to conversation. Another bonus is that the wait staff do a good job making sure people don't get overly liquored up. I hate loud/obnoxious drunks. Here is their website. Check it out if only for the beer menu. http://www.thesugarbowl.org/

I'm afraid I don't understand. Drunks, by nature, are a chatty and boisterous type. The two greatest drunks of the century, Dylan Thomas and Brendan Behan, were infamous for their rip-roaring readings of poems. They were laced with profanity, intermissions for a beverage, womanizing, etc. Without alcohol, I highly doubt either would have become famous.

I'll clarify. I don't like loud/obnoxious drunks if I'm not drunk.

A gay club in town has "Queeraoke" on Wednesdays. There's nothing better, the obligatory performance of "It's Raining Men" by some stupid girl in heels and jeans notwithstanding.

That's got nothing on 'gay Appreciation karaoke' at the Eagle. I haven't been there though...yet.

Well, I've only ever made out with black men at Apex, and Nations, and they all had this propensity for licking my entire face. That's not to say that I haven't met a white guy who didn't rub me the wrong way.

Gay bars in SF play the worst music. People tell you to go there because there are plenty of straight girls there and your chances of 'hooking up' increase but it just means there are a lot of ***-addicts and am jacky dudes trying to get with them because they know the girls will appreciate how open minded they are for being at a gay bar.

Just stay away from anything labeled 'Dike Night', for that is not as fun as it sounds.

I haven't been out in WeHo for almost 2 years; but, I hear that The Abbey is basically a straight club and that "Persians" bought it. Same thing with Rush and a few other spots along Santa Monica Blvd.

Your definition of "normal" seems to be outside the mainstream.
