For me, a splash is about a teaspoon of good water.

no, it's a little more complicated than that.

I figured...But branch water from the distillery is not exactly easy to come by, so I guess just the tap will have to do.

This thread has seriously messed with my head all week. I used to live in South Carolina, where my roomie and I kept a bottle of Knob Creek on hand at all times. Over the last couple of years I've been slacking in the bourbon department, so (on the way back from dropping off an ebay'd Oxxford suit at the tailor to get pants hemmed) I picked up a bottle of Bulleit.

I've opened it but not yet drank any. There's a nice thick ribeye in the fridge, waiting to get wrapped in bacon and skillet-seared for dinner. I'm hoping the bourbon will play nicely with it.

Alright boys...I'm heading out to do some stuff and will be swinging by my local booze shop. What do you think my first good bourbon purchase should be?

well, since woodford is the only thing that has kept me relatively sane during a pretty crazy week, i'd recommend that. if you aren't concerned with cost, get blanton's. and this advice is coming well after the liquor stores have closed, so i hope you're thoroughly enjoying whatever you ended up getting.

Well I ended up picking up a bottle of Knob Creek since I had enjoyed it more than woodford in my first tasting of the two.

Really love both. Woodford has a bit of a "sweet" taste to me, but it's not overbearing like Southern Comfort. I can't do the brown anymore, though. Ever drink so much of something that you can never drink it again? Yeah.
