I tried Knob Creek and Woodford tonight

My buddy is back from Korea and we went for a few drinks tonight. I tried Woodford and Knob for the first time. I rather like them. I am a big Makers fan and was surprised to find out I like these 2 more. They seem to have a smoother and more complex taste. I plan on picking some up. What do you guys think about Knob and Woodford?

Love Knob Creek, and I am not a Bourbon guy.

For about $29 a bottle, IMHO, Woodford is an amazing value and tastes great. To get anything better, IMHO, you need to spend about double for anything that is perhaps only slightly better.

Knob Creek is one of my favorite bourbons. It's just...perfect. The first time I tried Maker's Mark I was repulsed. That shit isn't bourbon, it's candy. Ugh.

Woodford>Knob for straight drinking Knob>Woodford for drink mixing

Wow... how ironic you post about Woodford when I just bought a bottle tonight. Haven't tried it yet. I finally finished off my Maker's Mark.

I'm going to go back to my bodybuilding diet tomorrow, but if I meet my monthly goals (all of them, and ONLY all of them) I'm going to pop open the bottle of Woodford and have a dram.

Looking forward to it!

By the way if you liked Knob Creek you may like Buffalo Trace.

I agree it's worth a shot; I've been trying to source a bottle of Buffalo Trace and Eagle Rare lately, seems like noone carries them.....

.....even though I DID stumble across a lonely bottle of Black Maple Hill's 11 year bottling; I'm too cheap at the moment to give that one a shot, though.

I just opened a bottle of Evan Williams Single Barrel 1997 last week and it is great. A wonderful complex flavor. Knob Creek is pretty good but it's so readily available at decent prices that I usually leave it for drinking at bars.

You should try some of the special small batch reserve stuff. Each bottle is numbered and the seal is gold wax. That is some special stuff.

Beam. Jim Beam.

Woodford had been my bourbon of choice for a while. As pocketsquareguy mentioned for <$30 it is hard to beat.

Lately though I have switched to Eagle Rare. One of the stores in town has had it in stock for the past 6 - 9 months at $19.99 per bottle. At that price it is hard to beat.

Woodford's excellent imo.

I had some homemade barbecue sauce on ribs the other day at a friend's barbecue that included Woodford as a principal ingredient. It was magnificent.
