There is nothing between the lining and the jacket. It's a half-lining...which only comes down halfway, and typical for this type of "shirt" jacket, the rest of the inside of the jacket is intentionally "unfinished" (including the area underneath the lining).
In addition, I think you can see in this photo that the bottom edge of the lining has been finished off in the same sheepskin leather trim that was used throughout the jacket. Other than the lining being strategically tacked down under the armpits...and of course around the inside pocket, the lining is not sewn or tacked down in any way to the inside of the jacket (you can simply lift up the lining and look underneath).
