Cigar shell Indys via Leffot. Probably my favorite shell color.

PTBs from DC for Whiskey Wednesday. Look for these to hit B&S soon (size 12B) because I'm getting some toe pain in my right foot when I walk. It's always awesome when it takes months and months of trial and error to nail down a size (a special order size no less) only to have one of your feet decide to start growing and screw everything up.

That sucks, I find how my shoes feel can be determined by so many factors that it can be hard to lock down sizing, ranging from sock choice, weather, time of day, natural variance in sizing in general etc (ex. one of my two pairs of LWB fits much tighter). Add to that I am roughly inbetween sizes, and my left foot is slightly longer lol. Buying shoes online is rough.

Yeah, I had sizing locked down pretty well, but then my right foot decided to grow, or stretch out or whatever (especially in the toebox), so now most of my shoes are too tight on my right foot but fit perfectly on my left. I'll have to slowly start buying bigger shoes to fit my right foot, and then use a tongue pad or something like that for my left. Either that or buy from a maker that can sell mismatched sizes. Thinking of taking a trip to Budapest to get properly fitted for Vass.

Can't a cobbler stretch the shoes?

I noticed some PTB on the Bay, style 595 Foot Balance system on the modified last. I have no experience with that last, but the Barrie is wonderful as the extra .5 size makes it fit very well. Can anyone comment on wearing a modified last shoe? Since it is used for hard to fit feet, the information on the web make them sound like you almost have to have major foot problems to wear them. What would prevent me from wearing them? Finally, they claim these are black shell, and it may be so. Anyone familiar with the shoe? Thanks.

Smfdoc, I wear modified same as Barrie. I don't have any issues with the last. The pair on eBay is not black shell cordovan. That's black leather. They're also EEE extra wide.

Let me share some of my experience in this area.

In 2012, I embarked upon a journey whereby I lost about 65 lbs that year.  (I have lost a total of about 90 #'s since then)

My foot shrank from a 11EEE to about a 10EE.

In 2014, I added jogging to my regimen.  But not just any jogging, Trail Running.

Therefore, my foot regained some of its original girth and I now find the best fit with an 11D.

My foot measure an 11 from heel to ball.  But a 10 from heel to toe tips.

Hope this helps.

Thanks.

DV, that confirms what I thought. It looked like calf to me. The fit would be OK as I am an 11 eee. I would consider them if they were shell, but I don't need a pair of black calf ptb.

After reaching 20+ pairs, I've finally acquired the shoe that got me into Alden to begin with. These are courtesy of a fellow member after making him an offer he couldnt refuse.

Can't stretch it enough to give me the required space I need in the toebox.

Thanks for the info. I think my foot started to stretch out when I was running a lot. Did a few half marathons and things like that in the last couple years. I have a hip issue now that is preventing me from running those kinds of distances, but my foot stayed the same size. Now without running at least it should stay where it is, so if I find something new that fits, hopefully it will still fit for years to come.

I love shell cordovan but there's time when my LS CXL Ulimate Indy's fill a void and get the job done

My cigar indys have landed! I though they were going to be hooks and eyelets so it's a pleasant surprise to be all eyelets. I prefer all eyes. Crappy lunchtime photos.

They look and fit great. It appears I'm all set in cigar boots!

Very nice, congrats. FYI, the Leffot model is hooks + eyelets; TSM's is all eyelets.

Ahh, good to know. Wasn't deal breaker either way for me but prefer the make up from TSM.
