Oh man, I saw those color 4 boots went for $1050. I agree, I was thinking they'd sell for a few hundred more.

I am leaning toward the crepe sole. The Leffot version is nice, but I think fransboone got it right.

I'm personally not a fan of the crepe sole. I had a pair of indys on crepe and have since sold them. I got the lwb antique/commando from Alden of caramel and couldn't be happier with them. They are a perfect casual shoe and work great for my needs.

But If you like the crepe by all means get them. I don't see myself ever grabbing a crepe sole Alden again but I could be wrong. I just generally prefer commando.

I'll give another vote for commando for a casual LWB.

IMO, the crepe is easily more comfortable in most instances and I find it grippier in bad weather on slippery surfaces, but if you are walking around or on your feet all day, I think the commando ends up being more comfortable. The crepe sole that Alden uses is just so darn heavy that after a while you really start to feel it. The crepe sole also tracks in so much dirt and grime on to your floor if that is of concern.

I used to be all about the crepe sole but I've changed my ways over the years. If Alden offered a sole similar to the Reltex Lactae Hevea sole that Rancourt offers I'd be all over that.

LHS awards to Don L and Mike. Shoot Mike, those almost look Whiskey. Splendid on both gentlemen..

These 8's have more eggplant in them than the last 8's releases..
