Brick + Mortar.

Just put in for the 10.5's to Yenni.

I've been looking for a blue boot but didn't see any I liked. I have a pair of C&J Navy Conistons in Scotch Grain but they are sorta on the dressier side. Folks here have been very happy with their chamois boots so I saw these and put in an email to B+M. Cool blue color. Wonder how they will age.

I just purchased the Alden Unlined Chukkas, and have noticed some issues with the heel insets. It seems the heel on the left shoe doesn't sit flat, and the right shoe inset is set too deep such that the rest of the heel scrapes on the ground when walking. Are these issues which warrant a return?

This has probably been posed before, but name a pair of Aldens you let go (for whatever reason) and still wish you could get your hands on again today.

I've been thinking about a pair of Ravello chukkas I let go of about 2 years ago. They fit well but I wore them very infrequently to the point where I thought it wasn't worth keeping them. Of course, now Ravello is nearly unheard of and my work situation has changed and casual chukkas would be perfect. Damn I miss that pair!

Happy Sunday.

Alden isn't always clean with heel work. It's hard to tell from your pics, but I'd guess that the heels would even out during the course of normal wearing due to your body weight. If you are very concerned about this issue and this is a readily available model, I'd inquire about an exchange. If this is a limited run, you may not be able to find a replacement pair in your size until the next run (months-years?).

Thanks, it's good to hear that it should even out from a second source.

This is the 1493, so it is a stock model and I may look into an exchange. This pair also shows slight signs of the "oil leak" from the waterlock sole on the upper. I thought Alden has remedied this but perhaps this pair was manufactured prior to that.

Its time to cast a vote and all opinions count. I will order one of these three shoes and they all have their pluses. All would be delivered in late spring 2017 and are available in my EEE size. I currently have the following:

Black shell LWB, #8 PTB, black shell perf cap toe and a Regina grain LWB with commando sole.

Plain Toe Saddle Blucher - Barrie Last
Color 8 Shell Cordovan Vamp and Quater, Brown Alpine Grain Saddle, Tangue and Backstay,
Blind Eyelets, Flat Welt 360, Antique Welt & Sole Edge, Flex Waterloc Sole

Short Wing Blucher -Plaza Last
Color 8 Shell Cordovan, Blind Eyelets, Flat Welt 360, Antique Welt & Sole Edge, Double Waterloc Sole

V-Tip Blucher -Barrie Last
Color 8 Shell Cordovan, 6 Blind Eyelets, Reverse Welt 360, Antique Welt & Sole Edge, Commando Sole

My other option is to wait until I can get a shell alt wein when they are ever ordered again in my size.

Which of the three do think best fills a gap in what I have and be the most versatile? Any pictures you have of any of these would be welcome. Ready.....pontificate.

IMO, saddle shoes are the least versatile. You already have wingtips, so that leaves the v-tips, which are very handsome shoes.

@mdubs

I wanted to thank you for the first page of this thread. So thorough and very helpful, especially seeing all the lasts shapes and the vendors listed.

I found an additional online vendor stationed down here in Miami named Supply and Advise.

They carry quite a large assortment of Aldens.

I know. I was taken by surprise when I was searching for S. Fl. Alden shops.

Those LHS Burnished Tan Penny loafers are nice.

I would say the SWB in Plaza, although the V-Tip is very fine as well. If you like the plaza last, there's a slightly more formal 6-eyelet Plaza NST from Brick and Mortar: http://aldenofsandiego.com/the-ultimate-color-8-norwegian-split-toe-blucher/

They have a good selection and some nice Exclusive makeups , but if looking for narrow or wide widths , last time I went there they only had D widths, the owners are very nice guys, they also carry a nice selection of Gitman shirts ,Quoddy and Levis Selvedge Denim, IMHO it's the best Men's shop in Miami.

PSA: Alden of Carmel is re-ordering these beauties (AOC-9), but this time on the Barrie (first run was on Aberdeen). I'm loving these boots so I wanted to pass this on in case any other Alden bros wanted to get in.

Contact Adam at AoC if you interested.

been watching these for a while, might haven even bidded on them, but only got to $183.50 when they were on auction... is this the end of outrageous prices for used "exotic shell"? have the people finally said ENOUGH is ENOUGH?! I'm guessing not. If they had a rakish tassel, I would have already pulled the trigger on them ;)
