badger me into buying these 1339c's on sale instead of holding off for longer (as I had been doing) waiting for the AF18AD5706C, or 13394C to go on sale.

And some more pics comparing my first attempt (975's) to the second (1339c). I tried using a darker polish (AE Dark Chili, vs Walnut base with  Dark Chili on top) on these to darken the edge a bit, looks like it worked. *sidenote, check out the difference color 8 shades!

Nice! Now i want to antique my chukkas as well:)

Question to the experts:

Will this procedure actually harm water resistency of the soles?

Well whaddaya' know. After so many months of wondering while they sat in the box, these do look great with jeans. #8 Alt-Wien Shell w/ double leather sole from Epaulet. My first Aldens and maiden voyage. Next time I'll wear the same A.P.C.'s but the smaller size I have. Or chinos. Damn, they really are beautiful shoes. I've been stalking here and all the Aldens I see are really nice/gorgeous. Boots are next! Y'all are inspiring!

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

I'm an 11.5 narrow side of D and I went with a 10.5 Barrie because of my "narrowness". When I wear William Abraham socks or linen socks, they fit nice. A hair snug, but nice. They are comfortable...But there's a slight tug on the pinkie toe and the ankle lip up top by my ankle. They look so beautiful from above. I think if I went with an 11 they'd be too wide and long. I think.....

Funny, I wear 10.5 Vibergs on the 1035 and 110 and while a bit wide at the forefoot, the balls of my feet hit spot on. I do need thick socks with the 110's though.

Will the Shells break in or soften a bit in time? I put Jos. A. Bank medium trees in them. Maybe I'll swap out to large.

Thanks folks!

My Color 8 Shell LWBs came in today from TSM. Upon quick inspection, I noticed what appears to be a scuff. Should I send it back or this normal?

Those are fine. I would not even consider sending them back. Enjoy and wear in good health -

I wouldn't worry about it if you seal the sole edge. I do this in three ways: 1) using the soldering iron to burn/seal a lower layer in the sole 2) using edge sealant/dressing, and 3) applying layers of wax.

Total non-issue. You can fill that with some wax if it's below the very top surface, otherwise hit it with some Bick 4 or Lexol and buff the heck of it. It will disappear quickly.

Thanks guys, I'll keep them—it's not really that noticeable, and completely unnoticeable when wearing them.

Lovely Cigars Uncle Mac. Always good to see some cigars which can be spotted as cigars in the first sight!
