The slight tightness in the right toe box (typical for all my shoes because of my feet) loosened during the day and I feel as if the shell was slowly compensating and that the cork bed was gradually assuming a new position. The combined effect was really good and allowed for the laces to be tightened for a closer fit. By the end of the day I felt as the shoes were now far closer to really fitting my feet and breaking in. In short, I REALLY like this combination of shoe, shell and last. The downside is that I am really tempted to see what other make-up I can locate in shell on the Hampton. I highly recommend a pair if your needs go this direction. I am excited to see how they feel after 4-6 wearings.

You wear EEE, correct? What's your brannock size? I have this shoe in 10E and love it, but I wonder if it wouldn't even be more comfortable in 10EE or even 10 or 9.5EEE.

Congrats on the shoes

In terms of fit, style and wearability I think that Hampton is one of, if not Alden's best.

I am partial to Plaza, but Hampton is great.

Brannock is 11 eee and I am pretty much stuck there. 10.5 eee is too tight and 11.5 too loose at the heel. I tried a 10.5 eeee which was also too short. I find those with a D or E have far more latitude to slightly adjust in width and height to dial it in. Those people on the far limits of a manufacturers size range, like a eee, are a little more restricted in their ability to adjust length and width to dial a shoe size in. Your mileage may vary.

With that being said my OCD is kicking in and I am having a hard time finding a belt I feel is suitable to wear with Alden Snuff Suede....

Any suggestions for something in the 1.25in/35mm width range, preferable silver toned buckle?  (Luckily my OCD is not so bad that I require a suede belt and leather would be acceptable as an option as well.)

The best option I have found thus far is Carmina Snuff Suede Belt but I am unsure if the color is too far off Alden Snuff.  I ordered an AE belt in Snuff and the color was too off to even go with the shoes in a tonal manner.  I have yet to find a leather belt I feel works with them either.

*sigh* First world problems

unline suede is the most comfortable summer shoe x 1000

Funny, I've tried 11D, 11.5D and 11.5C in hampton. I can't get through a full day in any of these sizes because of the discomfort. I'm going to try 12C and 12B eventually- then I'm going to give up if one of these doesnt work.

What's the consensus on using Alden boot cream on cordovan? I just used some on some Marlows with good results.

I've used the neutral boot cream on cordovan. I think it works well.

I just picked up my pair.  While in, the owner showed me a new pair they're posting early next week.

Natty CXL SWB, plaza last, commando sole, brass hardware.  Absolutely gorgeous, but I can't justify having two pair of natty CXL boots, plus LWBs.
