Im really confused if I should give it a try or send am back for a .5 longer pair...
Thanks for the advice!:-)

Just as basic as you can get, but they are hard to find in EEE. 9016 black shell from AofM.

hey guys, i just bought a pair of horween chromexcel Innsbruck Indys from Epaulet. boot is great; loving the commando soles, the quality and smell of the leather, and just the overall look of it.

what's the best way to care for brown horween chromexcel? aside from cleaning after every wear and applying leather defender for harsh conditions, i'm a bit clueless as to what to use for primary care and conditioning. i've read tons of many responses ranging from mink oil to neatsfoot oil to various Saphir creams. Nick Horween recommends Graisse Medallion from Saphir on his blog. should i just call it a day and pickup a tin of this?

I don't think I could be more of a fan of these. It will be hard reaching for other loafers in my collection now.

I rub any scuffs with my finger.  I wipe the shoe with a slightly damp cloth and I brush it.  That's pretty much it.  The Saphir Graisse is good stuff, but only needs to be used very occasionally IMHO.  I haven't bothered wth Leather Defender with my natty cxl Indys, though I'm not in the land of salt & snow.

The Innsbruck Indys are awesome...

I don't think you need leather defender for cxl. The beauty of cxl is that it requires almost no upkeep. I would recommend just wiping down with a light damp rag after a day where they really dirty, brush, and every few months applying some VSC or lexol. Any scuffs, albeit not very deep ones, can generally be rubbed out with a finger and some elbow grease, as stated above by @M635Guy. I wore my brown cxl indy boots through a pretty bad winter in upstate NY and they looked unfazed after the aforementioned regimen come spring. However, I did keep a towel at my desk to wipe them down if i walked though snow/salty slush on my way to work that day. That was about the only bad weather specific upkeep I gave the boots. Wear and enjoy!

Burz, those look so good! Might need to get a pair myself kind of a perfect loafer IMO

thanks @M635Guy and @KPDarb for the tips
didn't realize just how low maintenance CXL was. i'll just buy a tin of the Saphir stuff and use it every couple of months along with the daily upkeep.

Placed a call to Yenni and she happened to have this Plaza WTB in an 11E.  After an initial try on I think they'll work well.  I love the slightly

wider look of the toe box.  As usual Yenni was a pleasure to work with.

Sometimes it pays to make that phone call.

Congrats Gil on your new WT Boots. Thats a really beautiful pair! If those are from Brick and Mortar, wouldn't those be on the Grant last though? I was on that order and it was initially on the Plaza Last, but got switched to the Grant Last due to some circumstances.

I think this was from the run that was originally intended for J.Gilbert before B+M took over their stock.

PSA: Not sure if anyone is interested but Yenni posted a color 8 Dr. Jones variant with antique welt on her upcoming models section. There are a bunch of sizes left for pre-order. I would be on it if it was on double leather.

You'll be ordering this unlined model in black very soon my crystal ball reads.nod[1].gif

BB Unlined Jet Black LHS's. Lined version is now nicely tucked away until Fall. These get tons of wear as well and are 3+ years old now.
