Oh, didn't realize anyone else got their soles directly from Alden. I suggested shoe mart because I thought they were the only ones. I've seen Aram's work - it always looks good.

We interrupt this exotic shell cordovan program to bring you this Alden stock model number 403, in Horween brown chromexcel

I dig 'em!  I'd be grabbing an Innsbruck from Epaulet if I wasn't on the brown CXL NST from AoM...

How much does Alden's Chromexel stretches? I'm usually a 10E in the Trubalance last but I'm wondering if a 10D in Chromexel/Trubalance will stretch enough to accommodate my 10E feet.

i'm not a chromexel expert. however, i've bought aldens that fit a little big and a little small in the past. a little big is fine, thick socks or insoles make them work just fine. a little small does not work for me. i've tried breaking them in, wooden shoe tree stretching, not wearing them all day...... epic fail, all 3 times, sell for a loss.

First day in the wild. Although after I got to work, I realized my socks are brown instead of black...shog[1].gif

I'm considering getting a PTB in Chromexcel with the rubber lug sole. I would be interested in an reviews of the shoe, pro and con, from those who have seen or own the shoe.

Another sizing question...

I'm a 9E Barrie. Heel tends to be a little loose, but its great across the front of the foot. Would a Trubalance 9D be absurd, or would it have a chance of fitting?

On a related note, a lot of the Alden bros gave me some good ideas for purging this past winter.

Just wanted to update you guys on what I parted with. Overall, it’s been great passing on some models that I just don’t wear enough to some bros who could get some use out of them. I love collecting just as much as the next addict, but I’ve realized that having a closet full of shoes you just don’t get any use out of is pointless after a while (Gasp! Heresy!)

Don’t get me wrong, I’m still way over what a sane person would consider normal, but at least a little thinning has been done.

Over the past 4-5 months, my most worn styles have been: Color 8 Plaza Tanker (dark edge), Color 8 Barrie WT Boot, Color 8 Barrie Tanker (light edge), Black Shell Tanker, LS Ultimate Indy.

Off to new homes Since Dec 2015:

1. Alden 975 x leffot with antique edge & brass
2. Alden Black Shell Indy with brass
3. Alden x Leathersoul color 8 Shell Plaza wingtip boot
4. Alden x Leathersoul Vintage Indy
5. Alden x Epaulet Ironside Indy
6. Alden 990 PTB
7. Alden x B&M Regina grain LWB
8. Alden burnished tan WT boot
9. Alden snuff suede Indy
10. Alden x Supply&Advise Blue CXL Indy
11. Red Wing Heritage Copper R&T

I think I have 2-4 models to go...

On this note, this year has been very active for me on the Alden front with a number of new models in, including some preorders I didn't think would materialize. I filled some significant gaps, but I'm now past my Alden limit, so I plan to do some spring cleaning this week.
So far this year, I have acquired
Color 8 Straight Tip Captoe (workhorse; awesome burgundy shade)
Tan Calfskin Medallion Captoe on Modified Last (sleeper hit)
Whiskey Tanker (unicorn)
Whiskey Monk Strap (unicorn)
CXL Conservation Boot
In addition, I have a Color 8 LHS on 9.5EE that just arrived at a retailer (I've wanted that model for years) and a cigar preorder that should arrive in the fall

Over the past few months, most worn models have been
Alden 990, Color 8 Captoe, Black Captoe, Modified Tan Captoe, Cigar Indy, J Gilbert Snuff Plaza Wingtip

I plan on selling as many as five models... The LS Conservation Boot is the most likely to go as CXL boots are easy to come by and I can replace them as the fall approaches

I also want to sell one of my three "unicorns"... Gents, if you had to sell one of these, which would you? I have an idea of which one will go, but I wanted to take a poll
Whiskey Tanker
Whiskey Monk Strap
Cigar Indy

I'd get rid of the Whiskey Tanker. Simply because you state that you wear the Cigar Indy's a lot and the monk straps are a good business shoe.

Superb. Maybe all boots should be antique edge on commando.

@Alcibiades
Comes down to how you wear them.
I wear tankers and Indys more often than monks. If I had to, I'd let the monks go. But that is crazy talk. The monks are awesome and impossible to replace.

Happy Monday!

Probably my most worn Aldens over the past few years. Plaza last from J Gilbert, back in the Yenni days.
