@peppercorn78

The first EB boots were actually below that threshold.  And I got the 2nd pair while the exchange rate was sky high in our favor, so, according to what I remember both pairs were under that threshold.

@ReppTiePrepster

For the record I am totally cool with Asians.  That was one of the reasons why I was upset they were being taken advantage of.

And, I am serious about moving to China.

One of the strong points of Alden is the sheer comfort of their shoes.  Barrie is crazy comfy.

Hampton feels like house slippers.

My unlined LHS basically ARE house slippers.

EB are hard to fit I think.  I actually get a good fit from them.

Truthfully, CJ are just as comfy as Alden for me.

I think Alden are so comfortable because of the orthopedic nature of the company.  One time I owned a late model Lexus.  All leather.  RX 330.  Then, God chose to give me 4 beautiful children....bye, bye Lexus....Hello Ford Freestar.....

Anyway, my final wish was that the Ford have leather interior....the difference between the Fords interior and the Lexus is like night and day...later I found out that Toyota began as an upholstery company and then started making cars but kept an emphasis on the upholstery...

Moral of the Story:  Alden are not like Lexus's but the inside feels like one.

Thanks.

Thanks for the great thoughts Sir. I shouldn't have obmitted CJ, CJ is really comfy too!

Too bad CJ requires 12 orders for GMTO and very limited customization options....

Breaking in my new 4070s in my house... I can't wait to hit the pavement with these things.

Too bad Alden really doesn't do them at all...

Although I have heard grumblings from Epaulet and other regarding small run GMTO's, so, 6 to 1 half dozen to the other.

FYI - I'm currently working with Lauren from C&J to organize a whiskey cordovan Harlech boot GMTO. It's gaining some traction.

Yea I know! Unfortunately I am not a fan of blind eyelets on boots. BTW, any feedback from Lauren about the whiseky availability?

I'm still holding onto the whiskey wingtip boots I picked up in size 13 and have no intention of putting them on eBay. These is something odd/different however about the 379X last which makes me apprehensive, it's like walking around with huge bananas strapped on my feet. Is this last a modified true-balance or something?

I do find the griping about 2nds resellers a bit tedious because it happens every time there's a sale. People (newbs) here miss out / are slow, and proceed to bitch about it for weeks. Isn't the free market one of the things that makes 'Merica the "greatest country on earth"?

Also, my whiskey wingtip boots are 2nd quality, they are stamped on the sole. Color is even but the finishing is poor, not poor enough to justify Alden making them 2nds mind you, and I'm sure if they had been sold as 1st quality someone would have purchased and kept them without a hesitation.

Too formal? Perhaps with you'd be interested in a dashingly charismatic PTB GMTO...Say black shell on danite; perfect for long evenings spent mopping tile floors. wink.gif (c'mon jump on the group buy!)

She is suppose to get back to me tomorrow with some options and pricing. I'll definitely keep the thread updated.

I'm thinking of getting another pair of indy boots. I'd most likely snag the reverse tobacco chamois, but considering the kudu on neocork or a brown suede plain toe on the modified last.

My friend, Indiana Jones would be very proud of your collection. You should try a pair of Shoes, they are very nice as well. The Tobacco Chamois Indy is pretty rad.

They don't always photograph well, but I think it's a lovely style, especially in Whiskey.

Your Whiskeys are looking good my friend. I love the Whiskey PTB personally, it is my favorite PTB.

@MrVenneri, your Whiskey LWBs and CHUPs were looking great, Shockwave did not want me to quote you as it locked up Chrome twice.

What I like is when we are all just having a merry time here and then some unknown Asian guy posts his unreal Alden collection.  Its like Alden saves all the good hides for these overseas vendors.

I am glad you reminded me of that.  I think I may end up relocating to China sometime and was lamenting having to get rid of my Alden's....but, maybe I will actually stumble across some hidden Asian cache of exotic Aldens...

The Alden Shangri La...

I was once told Alden sold more shoes in Japan than in the US or anywhere else in the world.  That was probably five, six years ago.  Not sure about now.
