Agreed! These are my most comfortable Aldens out of the box. The double waterlock is the way to go over the flex sole. I get the slipper like comfort but it's painful walking in the flex sole over any distance.

My Alden for J Gilbert Color #8 Indy Boots on antique commando

BTW, in my email conversations with them, they implied that they weren't going to be stocking Aldens going forward (or, rather, that they wouldn't be dealing with Alden anymore, which is how I took that). Has that been confirmed?

I think that Yenni at Brick + Mortar is taking over most of their orders/models, although there's been some conflicting news about that. For example the #8 Indy boot on commando is being offered by Yenni right now (only 2 sizes left).

Gentlemen, it's been awhile since I've popped into this thread.

I'm looking for a brown shell (non cap toe) boot on commando - I'm willing to wait a year or more if absolutely needed.

Does anyone do a cigar tanker? That, I think, would be perfect.

Is it me, or is the #8 and black shell shortage all but gone?

Not really sure there was ever that much of a shortage for color 8 or black. If the FDA ever approves horse meat for consumption, watch out! Cigar, ravello, color 2, 4, etc... will be all over the place!

I'm about to have something way more beautiful, anticipated...and expensive...than a pair of shoes at the end of the wife and I's 9.5 month wait; end of March is coming quick

I have a similar delivery expected at the end of next month as well.

Of course, the real question for this thread is, which Alden do you plan on wearing on that momentous day?

For me it will be either my snuff suede LHS or snuff suede chukka boots. Both are extremely comfortable and go on and off very easily which is a must on those days where I might not make it home to change clothes for a while.
