I doubt it. They're such a small, low-tech (in a good way) operation that I don't think doing so would be any kind of priority.

Those look great! I passed on them because I asked them to send me a picture so I could see the shade of whiskey and they sent me this

I wish they sent me a better picture. I couldn't pull the trigger because the color in the photo was so bad in my opinion.

Oddly the day after I posed this question, Meermin released a GMTO for a "cigar" corodvan wingtip sourced from an Italian company.

Yeah, Meermin doesn't use Horween shell. Other tanneries producing shell include Comipel (Italy), Clayton (UK), and Shink-Hikaku (Japan). There are a few others out there.

But Kuti was clear with me that those terms Horween used in the transaction. is it possible that the exclusivity has lapsed, or maybe that there are two different colors that Horween is calling "cigar?"

Interesting. I have yet to order shell from Vass so I couldn't say.

It's brown

I have both, and I believe it is the same exact thing.  In fact my latest Antic Cognac from Vass is more cigar than my latest cigar from Alden (ie the olive tones in the brown), most likely because it isnt slathered in Alden's special sauce.  There is so much variance with the finished product from batch to batch you would be hard pressed to say certain "cigar" from Alden is the same as another.  Shell does not take color as well as other leathers and variations are inherent part of the product.  If I had to guess the names are what are exclusive to Alden.

In the end it is brown, particularly the more you wear it.
