Akeem - many thanks for the suggestions. I will look into all of them. I did speak to Ed yesterday and apparently the list for the Cigar Indy's is already full, or perhaps I may not have been worthy.
Akeem's answers were spot on. Ed at TheShoeMart is straight up. I'm not surprised that the list is full. You can always be put on a list for the next run.

Is anyone aware of any exotic make ups currently available? Shoes preferably.

Ed is a cool dude. He has my credit card number and I'm hoping for second run of Ravello NST on Aberdeen will come in soon.

My closet is ready for tifosing.

Yes; I did not truly mean to infer Ed was excluding me. I gotta remember tongue and cheek humor doesn't count on the internet. That said, I may still be unworthy. :-)

You really just need to make some phone calls and send out some emails. Also stalk the classifieds every few hours.

Maybe I've been fortunate but I just made the jump to shell a few months ago and have managed to get brand new lwbs in ravello and whiskey on the classifieds. A email to DC netted me a cigar ptb. And a phone call to the shoe mart go me in on the cigar Indy order.

I have zero clue on how I'm going to get a whiskey boot but I know it will take some legwork. I passed on the 14oz whiskey wingtip boots that's available because I don't like the last. I really want a whiskey Indy. That will probably take years......

I tried pretty much every 65 last option, and none of them fit quite right. I settled on 8.5D in the end. By contrast, Alden lasts just work better for my feet. I ended up selling all my AEs.

If my one pair of AE was actually worth selling, I would. For what I paid and what I'd get I might as well keep them and wear them once every other year like I do now. LOL

Edit: Dunno...maybe I should see what I can get for them... they are shell after all.

Saz,

What laces are those? The color is great and the thickness is just right.

I have some new shell shoes coming tomorrow and I am wondering what break-in advice experienced shell wearers can offer? I know to wear them on carpet only to test the fit, but at some point they have to get out in the world. Should they be worn straight out of the box or should they prepped in some way? My other shell shoes were already broken in when I bought them, so this will be a new experience for me.

What are they? You can usually get a decent amount for AE shell.

Talks about shortages, etc.
For Clark, Alden was a brand and cordovan a material that most men didn't discover until farther along in their careers, but the Internet has changed all that. Alden does not sell directly, but via a handful of independently owned Alden retail stores and through select specialty stores. Wait times for cordovan are reasonable, Clark says, except when it comes to certain colors, such as the coveted "cigar" shade of brown. "There are special colors of cordovan that we receive only intermittently," he says, which can result in customer wait times of six months. "

Hah! Don't we wish...
