Mike, not sure I understand what you mean by this?

Just guessing that he means speedhooks will destroy new laces

Meant exposed eyelets. The new laces are thicker and they absolutely suck with Aldens narrow unexposed eyelets. Note that NAMOR uses non-Alden laces on his Cigar boots.

...with Aldens newer laces, exposed eyelets are 100% a must. Got to sometimes work within the bounds of what is available. Barrie in 10.5B isn't too bad though. ;-)

I'm not a fan of all eyelets. I actually ironed my laces for the Indy and WTB's the other day. Was wondering if I could/should re-wax...

LoL. You guys are misinterpreting what I am saying. I am saying they need to have exposed eyelets not hidden eyelets. The old LeatherSoul uses hidden eyelets which are much narrower and harder to pass laces through. I am good with all eyelets or hooks plus eyelets as long as they are exposed. I just don't like the hidden eyelets on boots. :)

Mike, are those Cigar WTBs coming from AoM? From the summer?

#8 cap toe boots with speed hooks, what's the best place to get them? I understand Alden of DC often has them, anywhere else? Prefer Grant last.

That's a sweet model. Bummed out that I turned that one down when it came around for pre-order last summer.

Happy Monday all,

I was fortunate enough to be able to stop by CitiShoes in NYC this past Saturday. The two gentleman there were very welcoming despite I was looking very "touristy" that day. They had quite a few makes ups in all sorts of materials at 30% off which is not on their website.

In particular, I saw quite a few rare models including cigar shell tassel loafers, Color 8 shell NST boot on plaza last w/ antique edge, and suede indys w/ commando on barrie last.

I was pleasantly surprised that amount of Aldens they have. I had to walk out with the suede Indys...

Congrats on the new boots and please post a pic or two!  I've been considering this version.

I am going to, I actually have a modded version of AoM suede Indys on trubalance last, I will do a side by side comparison.

But to aid your purchasing decision, they are also currently 30% off. FYI the CitiShoes version are all eyelets.

Yeah, CitiShoes is a frequently forgotten store here, but they have a lot of cool makeups.

Thanks for the heads-up, headed to NYC Wednesday. I'll be hitting the Met, Moma, the Guggenheim, Leffot, Citishoes, Alden of NY and Tourneau.
Not necessarily in that order of importance.
