I was wondering if the group would mind helping me make up my mind on the next shoes I will buy. I want something versatile (can be worn with biz casual, suit and jeans as well). I'm heavily leaning towards the Alden 990 Color 8. I love the simplicity of the plain toe but am worried it makes my foot look to big. Just wanted to get some thoughts from the group on the 990 and/or anything else you think would be a good choice. This will be my first paid of Shell cordovan shoes.
I agree with others. 990 and 975 are your best bet. They can be worn biz casual, with a suit, and with jeans. The Barrie last with the storm welt does make them look big and a bit more casual, which detracts a bit from their suit-ability, but IMO I think they work great with just about anything.
