Call Alden Madison, DC, and The Shoe Mart and tell them you're interested in rare shell models.

:lurk:

I scanned page 1 to see if @mdubs had this in the FAQ but didn't see anything.  There are plenty of stores that do "rare" shell makeups that you call the shop and get on their lists.  Alden DC, Alden of Madison (AoM), The Shoe Mart (TSM) plus their 2nds email list would be a good start. Be warned, wait times can be very long

I've personally had the best luck through the forum B&S board and eBay.  If you're a size 8.5D Barrie then PM me ;)

Looking good in your TO Boot. It's a nice look with the Snuff/Plaza/Brass combination.

I thought about adding this into the FAQ as its like question #3 out of everyone. My recommendation swils is to go through the My Collection page on my blog (AldenofSanDiego.com) and see what makeups you like and then call the respective retailer (it's all listed on their for each model) and see if you will add you to their list.

also, i hate to spam the thread but it is dire, we need 1 more person the C&J brown shell Dundee (http://www.styleforum.net/t/362536/crockett-jones-mto-central/2895#post_8128825). Medallion captoe boots, it's gonna be a great makeup and C&J shell at near Alden prices (just a hair over $800 last time we got a quote). Great chance to take advantage of the strong USD!

Looking good 100 in your Roys. Ha you guys and your C&J GMTOs. :-) I just wish they could do a combo of widths.

Wow, that is pretty ghetto Steve. You should be embarrassed to walk outside in those in public. :-)

Nice LHS. Whiskey is a killer color on the LHS.

Here is what i'm talking about:
Cxb9InGm.jpg

How old are these shoes? How long have they been sitting in a warehouse do develop that kind of tarnish? Would you keep these or exchange?

There is no way to really know how old those are. You can only know to the month and last digit of the year. The Color 8 bleeding is normal actually. The eyelets are a little lame, but they can be cleaned.

My very first pair of Aldens (finally). I'd been coveting them for at least five years on and off.

Thought I was going to start with shell #8 Chukkas, but then decided I must have a commando sole. No patience and nothing in my anticipated size (9D Barrie), dictated that I start with these Tobacco Oregon Hill Indy's from Need Supply:

I took a small leap of faith on sizing and am happy with the fit and am really digging the style. I liked them so much, two days later I ordered a pair of the brown scotch grain LWB's from B+M (also on commando). Love 'em.

I may skip the chukkas and just keep my eye open for a pair of #8 shell PTB's, as I don't want to die without having a least one pair of Aldens in shell. I hope not to succumb to the addictive malady of some of you sickos around here though.wink.gif I just don't need too many pairs, right?....... BTW, what is the "appropriate" number of Alden's to own? (Oh dear God, please don't say N+1).
