I am attending a black tie wedding this weekend and have the tux but don't own any patent leather shoes. Would it be a bad idea to wear shined up Leffot color 8 dovers? On the one hand, they are dark enough in color that it would look black in dim lighting at night, but the antique edge gives me pause. What do you all think? Yay or nay?

no due to antique edge. double no to matching them to a tux

Another no here. Unlined #8 dovers are far too casual for a black tie tux.

I am in similar situation with you, attending one on 3/3.

I was planning to wear my 975s but it looks really off, I sucked up and brought a pair of black shoes. I would say at least get a pair with black edge.

Thanks guys, you confirmed my doubts and reinforced that I need to get some black shell, haha.

Thanks! I thought so too, but couldn't confirm.
Done! We are doing C/D/E widths.

Yes, I was referring to the side stitch, not the Indy style toe design. That would indeed be a totally different boot!

Been lurking this board as I gradually delve into the foray of high end boots, but was curious to know, although I've seen that the Plaza last seems to be a more "formal" type of last, can something akin to the color 8 plaza captoe seen in the gMTO trying to be made happen also be versatile enough to wear casually, such as with jeans? Regardless, definitely been enjoying the insight I've been gaining on this forum!

Most definitely. That boot right there is super versatile.

Yep, I knew what you meant. I really like the Indy stitch on the JCrew version of the jumper boot and also on NST boots, and of course Indy boots. I think it's a design element that adds a lot of visual interest to the body of the boot, in a formal design it might distract from the clean lines/shape.

Is anyone interested in taking over an Epaulet Alden Brixton Boot #8 preorder in a size 10.5E?

PSA: I just put my epaulet preorder spot for the  "TO Tie Guy" Snuff Suede Wingtip Boots on Commando/Plaza in 10D up in the classifieds if anyone is interested.  I'm moving to a C-width and just won't wear them as much as they deserve!

On a side note, I visited Leffot this week.  I cannot miss the next snuff Cooney boot preorder!  They're amazing!
