I'm looking for a brown shell (non cap toe) boot on commando - I'm willing to wait a year or more if absolutely needed.

Does anyone do a cigar tanker? That, I think, would be perfect.

I THINK Leather Soul is the only one to have done a Cigar tanker, and I don't believe it was on commando. I wouldn't expect to see it again for years and you have to be a huge spender to have a shot.

Cigar Indy on commando I think is done by ShoeMart every few years...

Cigar seems to be multi-year wait again

Leather Soul has done a Cigar tanker/NST boot (Barrie) on commando. TheShoeMart has done a Cigar tanker/NST boot (Aberdeen), but not on commando. Leather Soul, Leffot, TheShoeMart, and Epaulet have all done Cigar Indy boots with various sole/last options. Frans Boone has done a Cigar plain toe boot on commando (I have this makeup and love it).

Given how hard it is to get on "lists" at Leather Soul, I'd suggest emailing Ed at TheShoeMart to get on the list for the Cigar Indy (commando, Trubalance).

I did this when I first got my color 8 indy from TSM. I spoke to Ed about it at the time, and he said they had no plans but I gave him all my information. This was mid 2013.

I went to a cobbler for the first time. I brought in my black shell wingtip boots from Alden SF with leather soles. I wanted something more similar to commando so I could wear them more often in worse weather.

They put on a Vibram low profile lug half sole and matching heel. I'm very pleased and will certainly go back.

They turned out great, and honestly I would wager that they wear better than real commando.
