Great boots sir. You wear them well.
@BenLeaman Notice he didn't say anything about helping your lawn...I think it's too far gone, buddy.

If you are a d size in most ae lasts you are not going to be a d in most alden lasts as a very light rule of thumb. I wear an e or eee depending on style in ae65 and a d in alden barrie, trubalance and aberdeen.I go with same length in 65 last to Alden's barrie and trubalance and go up a size for aberdeen to my TTS length.

I wear an e width in the ae 511 last also.
Thanks for your advice!

I received a special order from Alden in the 8.5D (a full size down from Brannock) and they seem to fit very nicely. I am happy to have my size for the Barrie last! However, I have noticed a couple of blemishes that I am curious about.

The first blemish I noticed is that the right shoe had some noticeable polish buildup on the right shoe right below the laces. I tried to use a t-shirt to buff it off, and it seems to come off, but leaves a lighter color underneath. This could probably be easily fixed with some polish, but nonetheless these are brand new.

The second blemish is the welt on the left shoe (right in picture) is sewn noticeably taller than the right.

Are these blemishes normal for first quality Aldens? Should I exchange these for another pair, or just keep them at this point? This is my first pair of Alden's, so I am not sure what to expect.

Thanks for any advice!

I wouldn't worry about the polish blem, but the welt might bother me, esp. in the front forward position. Not sure how much luck you'll have with Alden if you want an exchange.

Thanks. I bought them through the Shoe Mart per everyone's recommendation, so they should take them back, even if I have to pay the $8.

Sweet boots BL! You need to live in SD to get DV's Kelly green look year round. Enjoy those boots often and in the best of health my friend!

@hkp2k your new long wings look fabulous, but if it bothers you call them and ask for an exchange. TSM will gladly help you. Those were the same gunboats I started my collection with. Be forewarned, you are entering dangerous (expensive) waters my friend! All the best!

In general terms, will a switch from dress socks to thicker boot socks generally account for a half size up change? So, if I'm a 10D Barrie, if I went up to a 10.5D Barrie, I could wear thicker socks and the fit should be fine?
