Any experts on here know if the citishoes snuff suede Indy boots are on The TB last? I just tried a pair on and they feel different from my chromexcel version

They are on the barrie last. The forefoot will feel slightly more narrow, for sure.

Kathy confirmed to me that prices would go up at the end of the month (Jan), although I haven't noticed it online at any vendors yet.

Btw, demand for this particular product still seems to be red hot, I imagine they could raise shell another 50-100 and not see a blip in sales. And even if sales did drop a bit, would it bother them? It seems like they are already producing at or slightly above their desired capacity.

At this point the price hikes are some B.S.

people don't like the practice of Alden's being flipped, nor do they like Alden raising prices. hrrrm wink.gif

seriously, IMO, they should just hike the price of Cigar 30%, Ravello and Whiskey 75%, and any other rare colors like #4 and #2 150%. price the rare things (in Alden world, anyways, Cigar is not rare for anyone else) to meet demand.

I have seen a few in the market or on eBay depending on your size. I might be throwing my slightly used 8E Leydon last pair up for sale soon as I find myself not reaching for them often enough.

Am guessing I'm 6.5 D or E (take 6D in Barrie and TB) so alas... the 8E won't work..

As KP stated the CitiShoe Snuff Indy is made on the Barrie and not the Trubalance Last. Making it a pretty unique makeup actually.

ha, of course it's not going to be popular advice for my friends down the road, but in a lot of ways it's more "fair" to simply price Ravello such that if I want to buy it, it sits in stores for some reasonably amount of time and I have the option to go buy a pair (albeit a very expensive option). currently I either need to be an existing massive customer at a retailer, wait 24 months, or get very lucky - essentially I have no chance - and it means that a lot of profits simply go to flippers.

price Ravello at $1,300 (or $1,400, or whatever it takes) and people stop flipping and probably some hoarding goes down as well. people will be much less likely to buy them and stash in a closet.

as a tradeoff, they can keep #8 shell the same price smile.gif

Either you're okay with flippers or much higher prices from Alden.

This is Alden.

That looks fantastic! I especially like how the contrast storm welt stitching pops even more now that the edge has been antiqued.

Would you know if that's the case for Citi's Color 8 Indy boots as well?

I agree in theory but in reality I don't think Alden is going to remodel a small fraction of its business in order to prevent flipping and provide limited access to items that already have limited access (through different means).  They really don't care and I don't think they have much financial incentive to care any more than they do now.

good points, I see all of that. however the changes I suggest (re-pricing rare shell) is pretty trivial and there are signs that's where we're headed - most businesses do end up figuring out how to stop the grey market from profiting. For instance, Shoemart - in 2010 "rare" shell 2nd's were $389. Now they are $600. That's a massive increase in 5 years - 12% yearly increase!
