To me this is both sad and ridiculous. I understand on some level trying to protect retailers make ups but ultimately one can go to the likes of bnelson anyway. Might as well afford the customer the oppotunity to swap soles.

Thanks Mike, they did - a non stock size in an exotic, a near rarity these days :)  I much prefer the dover pattern to the standard PTB, particularly the unlined version.

In what way does the Harlech run big? Length? Width? Instep? Etc.

TIA!

I'm sure Mike will answer this, but here's my two cents.

I wear (US) 9D on the Barrie last and have the Whiskey Harlech in (UK) 8.5E on the 341 last. I only have LWBs and Chukkas on the Barrie, no boots, by the way.

I would say that the 9D on Barrie and 8.5E on 341 are quite similar in size. The Harlechs might be a tiny bit wider. I have a low instep, so the Harlechs are a little big there, which might add to them feeling wider. My perfect Harlech/341 size would probably be UK8.5D, but E is the standard width. I think UK8E would have been too short on me, especially if wearing the Harlechs with boot socks/Chups.

(I have Alden boots on Plaza and Aberdeen in size 9.5D which fit pretty darn perfect. The 8.5E Harlechs are wider, not sure if they're longer.)

I agree with your assessment. I have a 9.5E Harlechs and was targeting a 10D Barrie equivalent. The slight additional width just killed me since I really wear 10.5B Barrie and 10D Barrie is just an okay fit for me.

Thanks. The Wingtip Balmoral is amongst my favorites and is a perfect San Diego shoe to me.

Hah, not that rare... ;-) I have a closet full of B's and C's, but it does take amicable vendors. :-)

Sorry, I don't make their policies. It would be very nice if they still did this though.

Thanks Chippy, you are correct, they are a great model. Only have a Black Shell and Color 8 Shell Tassel with me this week, so they will be getting their use also...
