I have them both. I have the Alden Grant CT Boot in Black, Color 8, Cigar and Ravello and the Harlech in Whiskey. Here is a comparison photo... I also have a Natural Shell and Snuff and a pure Navy Shell CT boots from AE.

The C&J and Alden are the middle two.

Alden Ravello in the Middle C&J Right.

Sizing, the Harlech runs large, I would go Barrie size on it.

I'm thinking I might get one in black.

I guess the first time around they did not do E widths but are getting a special shipment in...

Thanks.

Gotcha, I had a pair of Whiskey LHSes that came from the factory with a dark welt and a light tan antique edge. Its actually a pretty cool/interesting design choice.

Those are outstanding.

I love the humus color and wish more folks carried it.

I love Frans Boone's non-traditional makeups. Some of them are a bit wacky, but they always have a ton of uniqueness.

Thanks Mike, I'm really on the fence between the two. I'm leaning C&J given my recent positive experience with their Brecon chukka, which is my current go to pair.

Its a nicely made boot, no doubt. I do plan on selling mine in the short term as I just need a narrower boot and C&J only offers one width on GMTOs. If you are a D width, then you should be quite happy with it...

Thanks, these particular balmorals are a longer story. They were sold by TheShoeMart as Color #4, but had Ravello written on the box. When I reached out to Alden with the run and model number, I was able to verify that they were made for CitiShoes in Cigar around 2001. That is right around when they started doing exotics, so its not too surprising that the colors were fairly overlapping as they were still being defined at that point in time.

I have had a pair of Indy's with the footbalance asymmetrical heel for about 5years and it's getting to be time to replace the heel. Anyone know whats the best way to go about doing this? I live in Europe so I'm not sure if contacting Alden directly is viable.

No. I didn't not convert them. They were direct from Alden Madison (I believe).
