NAMOR, I can't wear the one size CHUPs. I have to get Larges. I think you should go that way as well.

So I've been on a bit of a good streak lately, and have been able to snag a lot of my favorite makeups. More details on all of them in a comprehensive post this weekend, but for now, enjoy these, which arrived today.

Ravello Chukkas! These have an incredibly nice shade of Ravello, from 2012.

White pebble grain saddle on thick leather sole... best golf shoe ever!  (so sad to see their factory close down)

Love it, RTP. Man I sure wish it was sunny and 75 instead of staring down 15-20" of snow. Love the Titleist muscleback. I'm a Mizuno guy but appreciate the heck out of Titleist gear. Those shoes are looking good, probably look even better when the birdies are dropping!

Unbelievable one-two punch. Love the all-eyelet look on the Brixtons/Hallecks.

Question for the experts:

I just received a pair of PCT boots in #8 shell cordovan. To me, the finishing on this pair is awful... as in, they seem like they should be seconds. Here are the issues:

Very small welts (3-4 mm across, about 5 of them) on the heel of one boot
Brogueing off-center where the shaft is sewn to the vamp
Shaft stretched so tight on one boot that the brogueing has actually been stretched from circles into ovals
Scratch on the toe of one boot, circular about 1/4 inch long
Pin prick sized hole on the vamp where it almost looks like a needle was passed through the leather with no thread

These are going back, no matter what, but am I over-reacting here? Has shell gotten this scarce that these now pass for first quality?

I am just trying to gauge what to expect in the future. Thanks!

Namor. I'm 10.5EE TTS and have a few chups pairs in one size fits "all". I'll say that I can get them on and they are not uncomfortable - but getting them on over my heel is a chore. Next purchase of chups will be in a large size if I can find them. Hope that helps.

Those don't sound like seconds to me.

More like thirds!

I'm sure these questions have been asked and answered a million times but, I am new here so cut me some slack! :)

I just got the Color 8 Plaza NST from Brick and Mortar and they are almost black. Will they lighten up over time? I didn't know there was so much variance in the Color 8 and was really hoping for that eggplant color.

My Brannock size is a 10.5 D/E (right in between). I have a 10.5 on the Aberdeen last  (calf) that I wear all the time and it fits great.

I also have two shell plaza last Aldens in a 10.5, the NST 8 and the PTB Cigar. They're a little tight but I have only worn one of the five times and the other never because it's been snowing a lot lately. Will they stretch out at all?

Would you advise going to a 10 or staying at a 10.5 in the Barrie last?

And lastly, is there anything you can do to minimize the rolls in the cordovan.  All of Mike's shoes ( Alden of San Diego) look brand new.  How does he do it!?

welcome,

#8 will lighten with wear, but it will not lighten to look like old #8. this saddens me.

you should try barrie size 10E.

lots of factors play into cordovan rolls: fit, shoe design, hide thickness, frequency of wear. Mike fastidiously attacks rolls, not fair to compare his shoes to anyone else's.

Sure thing!

Scratch

Warped brogue (looks like a footprint)

Welts

Shoddy brogueing (this is the least severe of all of them for sure)

Needle hole

These were brand new, first quality from a trusted Alden seller, mind you. I would honestly expect better from Meermin or Jack Erwin. I have six Aldens already, so I know that this is (or at least has been) out of the norm.

Anyone else seen something like this? Esp. with shell?
