Have you driven an electic chair?

I remember seeing many non-disable people in the American suburbs driving electric chairs in the market and malls. This is not at all a common habit in Europe even in Scotland where many people are obese which it appeared were the meat and potato of those using these chairs in the US. Do you think that this is a misuse of electricity or have in fact you driven one of these electric chairs under such circumstance without a feeling of moral impropriety thinking specifically of the impact on global warming due to their energy use?

A misuse of electricity? No.

When I see someone able to walk in an electric chair, I just think of them as incredibly lazy. The energy used to tote someone around in a electric chair is peanuts compared to all the unneeded SUV's and super-duty pickup trucks... and I don't have a problem with those folks either.

btw, I used to work night shift stocking a grocery store and we would drive the electric chairs around the store and have races and whatnot and never had a 2nd thought about it - except that I might get caught by a manager...

You have may have made a valid point about the electricity consumption of only one electric chair but when you have in a single mall 20 people riding in these vehicles observed in a one hour period it must add up to a great number of total users considering the number of malls in the US. With your mention of SUVs it pinned another point in my mind: that these electric chairs promote obesity and I believe an obese is more likely to purchase an SUV if only because of the greater number of soda holders in the cabin.

Well, I have always believed not to wait for the final redemption as everyday contains the same possibility.

I think cupholders in the US is something Europeans often laugh at. Do they still not have cup holders in cars in Europe, or just not as many?

Seriously? Cup holders? How do Europeans live without cup holders?

They sit with legs crossed and sip their coffee in a leisurely manner like civilized people should.

Next I suppose you'll be telling me that they don't go through the McDonalds drive-through while talking on their cell phone, while their kids are in the back seat watching a DVD on the fold down screen... I guess thats why they call it "The American Dream" instead of just "The Dream"...

Here I have only seen cars with demitasse size holders which I don't think would benefit cola drinkers.

wow roland, you're very deep.

personally, i'd like to see the day when a grid (not unlike that which is set-up above a dodgem car track) is attached to the ceiling of every shopping mall in the nation..

..then we can all skoot around, bumping and dodging our way all over the place, in electric dodgem chairs.
