Introducing RJB - Real Japan Blues
We're nuts here for anything that goes above and beyond the normal scope of what is expected out of garment design and manufacturing. A brand that goes to psychotic lengths to bring us something different always gets our attention.
This is why we've chosen to bring in RJB, Real Japan Blues, into Self Edge.
Starting with two button-down western style shirts, we're proud to introduce RJB into the Self Edge family of Japanese lines.

RJB Black Denim Shirt ($345): 60% Zimbabwe cotton - 40% silk / Mother of Pearl buttons/ Mast of all seams (shoulder, side etc) are finished with a lap seam (felled).
This is a denim shirt but the weft is made of silk thread to give it a super sheen, the warp is indigo with a sulphur top, therefore the shirt fades like indigo denim.

RJB Chambray ($345): This shirt appears to be salmon colored but is actually made up of 7 different colors of yarn, none of which are the color of the shirt / 100% Rayon / Mother of Pearl Buttons / Mast of all seams (shoulder, side, etc) are finished with a lap seam (felled).

Both of these are on another level of production and attention to detail than what we're even used to here at Self Edge.
RJB does not allow online sales of their products worldwide, so that customers can be fully educated about each product before a purchase. We do allow phone orders and will be more than happy to answer any questions regarding fit, construction, or any other questions you can think up.

I'm loving both the shirts, it's not often these days i'm seeing a shirt that blows everything else in it's class out of the water in terms of design..

What about the design do you find so superior?

The cut/fit of the shirts are better than anything we've ever seen, the way every single fabric edge is finished inside AND out is beautifully done, the fabrics themselves are extremely unique (black denim with a silk weft and a chambray made up of seven colors of thread, none of which are the color of the shirt, etc..)

Could you post some pictures of the lap-seaming. I doubt that most readers will understand this term. Typically, I've seen this only on shirt jackets by the best luxury brands - some of Jil Sander's early menswear pieces were completely felled in this manner, and retailed, in 1998, at $450.

In any case, this definitely shows attention to detail. I like it a lot more that taping.

This guy has some real Japan blues.

They look like really nice shirts, but... rayon? Has the company given you an explanation of their choice of fabric? It's possible, I guess, that they're trying to be authentic to the early industrial age, but I would think that would warrant a cheaper price tag compared to the cotton/silk version.

They have said that they chose rayon for the "7 Thread" shirt because of the outcome color once they combined the seven colors of thread, and the shade of color they were going for wasn't possible if they had used any other material.
Also, when explaining the piece in person they mentioned something about the weight of the shirt and it being selvedge, and how they had to use rayon.
The last bit of info being heavily destroyed through translation.

Maybe it's a very dense weave or something. Whatever, it's a really good-looking piece and if I had the dough I'd probably pick one up.
