Any recs for a great lighter?...

I'm looking to buy a lighter I can keep/use for the rest of my life. I only smoke a cigar or two a week so it won't get extreme use but I want to buy one that I could maybe even give to my son one day. I would like a new one but if there's a good vintage out there I'd look at them as well. Thanks in advance

I know you are supposed to use that paper stuff to light them but at my age that is too much of a hassle to worry about

Yes, a match is usually recommended practice, however there is nothing wrong with using either a butane lighter or a torch.

On the high end, I recommend Dunhill, if you're looking for something more affordable, I suggest Colibri or Dupont.

colibri is shit. they crap out and have to be repaired too often. A real sleeper brand is IM Corona. Made in japan. awesome flint system, holds a ton of butane, and priced right (about $100). do a google search and you can find one. I have zippos, colibris, knock-offs, you name it (about 20 cigar lighters) and the only one I carry is the IM Corona. I got one in black w/ a sliver finish.

For dirt cheap and unique, search "Advertsing lighter" in ebay. I got one, handed out by a health insurance company (the ironing is delicious), with a 1964 calendar on it for just a few bucks. Tres Mad Men and very handy if you anticipate time-travel. Look for Made in Japan ones, as I'm told they are best.

Those are actually pretty cool and unique.

Kind of cool, though I'm not a fan of liquid fuel lighters, even Zippos, as they seem to leak/evaporate and need refilling quite often. Also if you're anal retentive, you can taste the fuel.
