Bush

Because of his ties? 4 years ago he had less vote than Gore. He has done nothing good for 4 years so many people who did vote for him will change their mind or not to vote People who did vote for Gore will vote for Kerry Well how can Bush be at 50% today?

You know, there is a current events and politics forum.

That's all Kerry needs--a French endorsement.

American voting patterns remain a mystery. The historical development of a two-party system results in very bizarre electoral outcomes. For example, NY State will vote overwhelmingly for Kerry, while its governor and one house of the legislature are solidly Republican. On the other hand, New Jersey is supposed to be a toss-up while the Governor and both houses of the legislature are solidly Democrats. All fascinating. For purposes of this forum, however, the real question should be whether their ought to be an official White House tailor in the same way there is a national poet laureate?

I asked if it was because of his tie...

If so, it really should not be Georges de Paris.  Not because he is French -- nothing against the French. -- but because he is a bad tailor.

Did it occur to you that it might be because of his Oxxford suits?

Rather because of his blue tie as I have the same style.

OK Guys- take a vote. Should we leave the topic here or move it?
Will this thread get any less stupid if it is moved? If not, why bother.

Forget an official White House tailor, how about an official White House dress policy? Which should include aspects like: clothes should fit, 1/8" to ¼" of shirt-sleeves should be visible when wearing a jacket, white tie is what is diplomatically proper when hosting receptions, cowboy hats / cowboy boots are not presidential, etc... Jon.

Probably not. BTW Jon, every president since Eisenhower has commissioned a custom pair of cowboy boots. Don't think many of them wore them to state functions, but I haven't seen any pictures of Bush doing that either. Perhaps Truman, being a haberdasherer by trade had an aversion to them.

Wow, talk about implying that anyone who doesn't agree with you is simply a moron. Thank god we don't usually associate arrogance with the French. Frankly, I like Bush's ties. Apparently he buys them, along with his suits, in Dallas.

Actually, he has many of them made at Gassane Tailors, by "Gus" Kasim here in Austin. Gus is a Lebanese tailor who loves Bush. But apparently he's bipartisan as he made suits for LBJ as well.
