Sport Coat Matching help - BB herringbone with flannel

Hey everyone.

I recently picked up a brown herringbone sport coat from BB. I have a few pair of flannel pants that I can wear.  I know I can wear the navy ones.  But what about these (they are listed as "Taupe" from Banana)?

Is there enough of a difference for them to work together?

thanks in advance! (sorry they are sideways, i rotated and saved but it still uploads them sideways!)

I own the sport jacket you have now. You would do better with (like you said) Navy,or dark brown.

Thanks for the quick reply!

I have a light/mid grey flannel too... this would work?

Also, let's say I go with the navy or the grey... I'm curious on color families for tie to match?

thanks!

Brooks Brothers actually have a pair of gray and brown check flannels that just came in. I will stop by and grab and pair and post the photos. They are unfinished so I will do it before I send them to get tailored. That way you have something to go off of.

As far as ties? It will depend on your canvass ( shirt) and what color you want to bring out the most. The pattern of the shirt will influence or enhance the tie. Think of nature when you are dealing with heavy flannels.

Maybe something like the pants here will work for you.

Thanks!  I'll check those out and in the meantime I'll leverage the navy and mid gray flannel I have.

cheers

That's a very good low-contrast look, and is exactly how I often wear my herringbone jacket in just that shade of brown.  Navy, dark brown, and charcoal will all give more contrast, but those flannels pair perfectly, and they open up the possibility of wearing virtually any tie you want without fear that the light/dark balance of your top and bottom halves will be thrown off.
