How can I restore that glossy luster to a pair of Cordovans....when they are new

I am a shell noob, a long way from achieving oneness with my Cordovans. I received a brand new pair of Carmina NST Blucher in Cognac Shell the other day - absolutely beautiful right out of the box.

Thinking that I was doing the right thing, I applied a thin coat of Saphir Renovateur and buffed it out with a flannel cloth. Now, the shoes don't have that glossy shine that they came with. I doubt the Saphir did anything bad to the shoes. I think what more likely happened is that I cleaned off something that had been enhancing that shine. I noticed that a bit of color accumulated onto the cloth a buffed the renovateur off with.

On top of that, the vamp on one shoe is shinier that the other. As you can see in the picture, the shoe on the right has a glossier shine.

So my question is, what was on the shoe right out of the box that gave it that higher shine? How do I get it back? Should I even try? Was it a thin coat of wax? Or is it just a matter of brushing and brushing and brushing until the heat releases the natural oils in the shell come out more?

To achieve oneness and eternal shine ...turn on some enigma, fire up a joint, and grab a stiff horsehair brush.....

Coatings are unnatural and do not flow with the energy that is shell...To my knowledge I have not experienced such, but many things exist that I have not experienced......

Seriously...wipe them down with a damp cloth, let them dry a bit, and work the brush....avoid further "products"...and ask before doing if you don't know what you're doing...but with shell...it's usually a pretty simple solution....brush...brush...and brush some more

I spent about 20 minutes working over my shells with nothing but a brush. Behold, I have seen the light. Literally. The glow is coming back.
