Wool overs vs ll bean vs RL wool sweaters

I was wondering if anyone had any experiences with wool sweaters from wool overs, ll bean, or Ralph Lauren. If you have other suggestions for quality wool sweaters that are not too pricey please let me know.

Could you be a little more specific as to the sort of wool sweaters in which you're interested? I mean, there's a fair amount of difference between Bean's Washable Merino Quarter-Zip sweater, and its Heritage Irish Fisherman's Crewneck. (I'm using LL Bean as an example, because I'm far more familiar with LLB than I am with RL or Wool Over.)

Not looking at any particular sweater, but something that is very warm and will hold up well without pilling.

If your top requirements be that the sweater be very warm and hold up well, I'd give the nod to a vintage L.L. Bean Norwegian Fisherman's sweater. They're the warmest sweaters I've ever owned, and it's not unusual for them to hold up well after decades of wear.

Vintage, not the current model. For reasons touched upon at http://www.saltwaternewengland.com/2014/10/the-norwegian-crewneck-sweater.html. Not that the current one is absolutely horrible; it's just not as good as the older version. (It's the cuffs that get to me.) And since the older version is readily available over on eBay, often in great condition, and usually for a fraction of the price of buying new, the choice is simple.
