Dear SF community,

I am strongly considering ordering MTO Dark Brown or Chestnut Pin Grain butterfly "piecrust" loafers, and I am seeking feedback regarding the quality/properties of this leather.

To my understanding, Pingrain leathers are splits (http://www.winstonleather.com/UI/Informations.aspx?i=t) and are therefore thinner than full grain / full thickness leather.

My question is, how do these leathers hold up over time? Here are a few examples of shoes made up in pin grain that have been posted on SF (I think they look great):

What are your thoughts? Any pingrain insights?

Appreciate any input.

I have a pair of these. They seem like pretty sturdy shoes to me, much as expect EGs to be. The color is not what I would call chestnut, but does have a touch of red. It's a warmer brown, rather than cooler.
