Houndstooth trousers

I was wondering what you all would pair with houndstooth trousers.  I was thinking a pale blue linen shirt with shell cordovan laceups and matching belt. Any other ideas?

pale blue linen would look nice, indeed. also you could go with a dark sweater - black, or one of the colors of the checks (looks like maroon and brown?). if you went with a black sweater you could have black shoes as well - with the right hem condition, maybe a monkstrap, maybe just a brogue of some sort. a chocolate brown jacket would look pretty good, especially with a light blue shirt. cashmere/wool, something soft and slightly 'fuzzy'. you could even do a lighter colored jacket, creme or light khaki - maybe with a black merino pullover or turtleneck. (dunno if that's a 'dated' look, but i like it anyway.) /andrew - depositing $.02 in the canister...

Lance: I'm specifically looking for a pair of odd trousers, flat front, preferably Incotex, size 36. Houndstooth fits the bill best, but anything else in a pattern that is in brownish tanish tones, I'm interested. Let me know...
