For tax purposes, will the vendor or the charity provide a donation receipt?

No. Plus would only be for the amount over retail value

This.

I've been looking into setting up a trust to run this, but the restrictions on a non-profit that can offer this type of receipt are strict, and the overhead is pretty onerous.  Plus, as @rydenfan has already pointed out, the receipt would only be for donations in the amount in excess of the retail value of the goods you have received.

Auction 17:  A bottle of Four Roses La Brigantessa Bourbon and two @YellowHookTies ties!

Ends Sunday, Dec 20, 12 p.m.. or 10 minutes after the last bid, whichever comes later (or apparently, when I finish my workout).

Let's start the bidding... now.

Yellowhook neckties - A bottle of Four Roses "La Brigantessa" Bourbon, a beautiful red tie in honor of Four Roses new Master Distiller Brent Elliot in a lovely cotton/linen/silk blend, and a Holiday tie from Yellow Hook Neckties, of Rob (@NewYorkIslander's) choice.  I trust this guy!

Retail value of about $450, based on the average value of the ties and what I generally pay for good bourbon.

Bidding starts at $250, and the minimum bid increment for this auction will be $10.Bid generously and often!  It's for the kids.

Good luck, everyone.  Happy Holidays.

Please bid often and generously.  What better way is there to spend money and get some great loot at the same time?

You say "Brooklyn accent" but I'm getting Elmer Fud.

It's at $350 then.  Do I hear a $370 in the crowd.
