Around how much are MTM suits there?
Who is the tailor in shangri-la?
i think he's talking about ascott chang.
I wouldn't try this.
Why shouldn't I get MTM suits there? Labor is cheap and is always in demand.
Shangri-La Manila is the one in Makati. Shangri-La Plaza is the one in Mandaluyong, beside the Shangri-La Mall.
BAM, there goes my balikbayan plans.
Philippines can't be that bad can it?
Acidic Im very disappointed that The Philippines can;t deliver sartorially. Is there any shops there that do good rtw?
I did find a few surprises interestingly enough at Rustans. I forget the label, but they had a nice pair of shoes, in a balmoral wingtip, looks as though it was blake stitched. There was also a couple of trad looking Florsheims. They were big gunboats and goodyear welted. (I think it was a Kenmoor) One of them had a storm welt. There was another brand that I would probably give a second look at and that would be Bristol. They had a couple of models that were quite handsome on a rather elegant last, unfortunately they were black. What is it with all the black shoes there, I had the same problem in Hong Kong. Actually this pair of shoes at Rustans' were similarly priced to the Bristols at shoemart and look to be slightly better quality.
Yeah, the Philippines imo can't deliver sartorially but there are more stuff to do here, you won't miss that part.
Okay, I've been in Manila since Tuesday night. Decided to check out the local shops and tailors for myself to see what the deal was. Went to Bergamo and King Philip. I liked looking at the fabrics at King Philip there looked like there would be some promising finds, particularly with the cashmere/wool blends, unfortunately they were all really course. Even if I could find some acceptable fabric which I am sure I could do, the suits are just so poorly executed. I think for the money I could definitely spend it at a fairly mediocre tailor in Hong Kong and come out on top.
