Had fun trying this one on at Standard & Strange tonight in Oakland. Comfortable. Even my wife loved it.

Looks good. How did you find the sizing?

They only had a 2 and a 3. This is the 3 and I'm 6'2" 190 lbs.

What would you suggest for sizing? Should I try a size 4?

A very cool piece. The well worn fabric is very comfortable and soft. This is so counter to my classic menswear that it was fun, odd and interesting experience wearing it. After trying it I on I now "get" the appeal. This piece is like physical architecture.

The size 3 looks good on you, and I don't think they make the ring coats in a larger size. I was curious as I'm tempted by one myself :)

I like a lot of this stuff, but the price points I've seen are prohibitive for me at the moment.

It's significantly cheaper ordering from Japan...

+1

I've bought stuff from Jonathan at Bandana Almanac. He works for the brand and proxies for very reasonable fees. He can also give sizing advice, although things aren't returnable (as with almost any purchase from Japan)

That's interesting. I looked at the Kapital web shop and pretty much everything I clicked on was out of stock. Prices are much more reasonable.

Here is a pic of Jermey Smith co-owner of Standard & Strange in Oakland with his melton wool Ring jacket in black.

A lot of the pieces are fairly small runs. Others are re-stocked from time to time.

I've used zenmarket to order from their webshop (and used pieces from Rakuten and yahoo) - the fees and internal shipping costs are very small and you can package items from multiple retailers together for international shipping with a choice of services.

BTW - If anyone hasn't been to Kapital.jp recently, they've just refreshed the web site with new content.

I rather like the Ring Coat in vintage Melton which The Bureau Belfast had. It sold out immediately.

Any idea who else carries it? Blue In Green had it (sold out in large sizes) and they also have another one which is considerably more expensive. I am curious as to the differences between the two.

Also curious as to what size I would take - 5'10" 170lbs (55 year old body!)
I usually take a 50/52 in Cabourn

Hey folks, just wanted to pop in and say hello. Kapital has been on my radar for as long as I can remember and I have my first piece on its way: a 10oz denim ring coat and I'm excited as hell to wear it since the Bay Area temps in the bay area are beginning to drop. Will post pics and initial impressions when I receive it.
