@GusW You are right.

@KamoteJoe Great to see that coat in the wild. It seems like a pretty complex cut. Are you finding it easy to put on? Sort of an odd question I guess, but I mean you don't have to arrange all that volume to get the right drape and fit or anything?

And is the bottom hem elasticized or is the bunch I see from draw strings?

I think this should look even better as the denim breaks in.

@ManofKent What is the katsuragi cloth like? I can't seem to find any real description of it.

@FrankCowperwood You know what, the only part of the coat that gives me trouble is the hood. I'm not surprised since it would make a strong case for the most oversized hood on any piece of clothing. Luckily, there's a button on the neckline which you can use to collapse the hood and essentially transform it into a shawl (amazing feature and has been my go-to setting for the coat). Any the bunching is from the drawstrings.

It's basically a very slightly peached mid weight cotton. Think winter weight chinos. A bit too warm for the unseasonably mild day we had on Sunday.

That is cut pretty short in the torso.

Much of their outerwear is - I'm guessing they cut for the Japanese market.

New drop at Porter:

I really like this, pretty nice for only a grand.  I would expect it to be much more expensive.  Would so wear but it'd probably never fit me.

Comes in two other colour way's: http://www.kapital.jp/e-store/detail.php?id=K1510LJ164K1511LJ258&key=5407&category=177 (a bit cheaper direct from Japan too ;)

Think I like the red/blue the best, but I wonder if each jacket is unique - the picture on the webshop uses the same materials but the pattern's different from Porter's item.

Almost certainly unique. Much of what they sell is produced in fairly small volumes, and with a lot of handwork.

Hey MoK, have you gotten your ring coat? I was considering getting the tall ring coat, and I was just wondering if someone could help me with sizing,

I'm 5''9, 170 pounds, and 21'' pit to pit. I typtically wear medium in most things, but this piece looks like it's quite oversized to begin with? Debating between size 1 and 2? Also, any thoughts on the tall vs. the normal length? My heart wants to go with the tall cause it's just so looong and drapey, but I feel like practically I'll be able to use the normal length much more often...

Yes - it's arrived, just too mild to wear it. I went for the size 3 and it's roomy on me - probably the right size but I could have got away with a size smaller if the sleeve length isn't too much shorter - would risk a 2 if I found one cheap...). For reference I'm 6'1" about a 43" chest, no idea of weight but bulky in body but slim armed. It's about 3/4 length (pretty much on the knees).

^^Ahh, gotcha. So yeah, it does seem like its pretty roomy. I'm a 37'' chest, so I guess ideally I'd go for a 1. Well, I don't actually see any 1s in stock in the tall length. I may just end up going for the normal length in black, it probably would get more use in that length anyway. Also, this may be a stupid question but do you by any chance know the difference between napped and the non-napped version?
