Before I ask my question, here's a bit of a background: I live in Chicago very close to the lakefront. The past year I bought a pair of Dents rabbit fur lined leather gloves for $160 which I thought was expensive. They didn't do the job during the middle of winter - my hands were still fairly cold. Here it gets extremely cold due to the windchill.
I was under the impression that rabbit fur was supposed to be extremely warm - then I heard about Peccary gloves.
So I went ahead and bought a pair of Dents Peccary cashmere lined gloves, for $350 thinking they'd be the real deal.
Now upon inspection, the leather is beautiful, but the cashmere doesn't seem any more substantial than a cheaper pair of gloves.
So my question is, are these gloves more of a fashion piece or also for function? Does Peccary actually provide better insulation as compared to a cheaper leather?
I know that alpaca tends to be the warmest, but I cannot find an alpaca lined peccary glove.
Appreciate any input, thanks!
