consuming alcohol while losing weight?

I'm trying to exercise more to lose my gut. Obviously diet is a big part of this. Although I know it's not the best thing for weight loss, if I continue to drink on occasion is it better to drink wine or beer?

Wine.

More specifically, red wine.

Beer is nothing but carbs, so they say.

Drinking alcohol will hamper your metabolism of fats for anywhere from 2-4 days, it's an absolute no-no during attempted weight loss. Now that you know, that go with a half class of red wine once a week if you gotta.

Can you provide me a link for that Eason? I've only heard it doesn't allow the fat to metabolize for the period that it's in your system. If what you said is the case I feel much better about my decision to not partake in the regular festivities

Everything I've read agrees with you. It's not that drinking alters your metabolism for extended periods of time; it's that alcohol is metabolized first, so fat burning is stalled.

Try a neat scotch with a soda water on the side. You can refill the soda all night and nurse the scotch. It is amazing how much weight the liver sheds if you stop soaking it

One study I remember was in the American Journal of Nutrition where they discovered that yes, the alcohol was burned instead of fat causing a 73% drop in fat metabolism during the initial period, but that the alcohol broke down into acetate, bringing acetate levels in the blood to over 2.5 times their normal amount. The rise in Acetate is what stops fat loss in the span of days, where the body will burn the acetate, taking fat out of the metabolic equation.

Good read. But one would think that a few hundreds calories worth of acetate would be burned off pretty quickly, as opposed to in a few days, by the body, no?

I drink very rarely, and especially try to avoid it on days I've lifted (as it pretty much kills protein synthesis and lowers test, hgh and igf-1 values), but for instance the clients at anti gym get great weightloss results even with a couple of glasses pr day.

I'm guessing it takes a while to get get all that shit out of your blood, it's probably pretty into the body and your metabolism by then.

Whiskey is the answer to this question, as well as all questions.
