Hair Product/Hair Style Question

I have a few questions and hopefully you guys can help me out. I have really fine, oily hair (I have to wash it every other day or else it gets really oily and flat). Washing it every other day seems to work okay for now. I have a decent amount of volume but my hair is also very stubborn. Anyway, I'm wondering how I can get that messy/distressed look and have my hair look matte/dry (I hate that wet gel look). Something like a beatle-esque shaggy look. Any suggestions on what kind of wax or product I should use? Something like a combination of these two maybe: + Thanks in advance.

Just get it layered and it should be ok but if you hair is really fine no product can make it look like the top look (bottom would work though)

Well as far as I know my hair is cut in layers. It was also 'textured' with a razor. My hair isn't super fine/thin. I can get something similar to the bottom picture but it isn't as textured or messy as I'd like. Certain mornings I wake up and I can't style it the way I want because it's really stubborn as well.

I have said it many a time, but to get the texture like the first pic I use a product called "Gatsby Moving Rubber: Spiky Edge" its perfect for a matte messy look (if used in moderation). Its from Japan, so check Ebay

I've read about Gatsby over at SuperFuture. I've heard it's kind of hard to get out, true? Also, does it leave the hair really stiff or does it allow for some movement?

It depends on the kind you use. The harder ones leave hair really stiff, the less hard allow some reshaping/movement. You have to use shampoo to wash them out, yes.

I like KMS hairplay molding paste : soft/med hold, matte and moveable. It rinses out, u don't have to shampoo it.

QFT, the Spiky Edge is perfect for my hair, it takes about two washes to get completely out but thats ok with me. It still allows for a lot of reshaping/movement and wont crack/flake out of your hair.

i use Xtah Crude Clay by Sebastien. i've also used Matrix Dirty Trix and it was really stiff and clumpy. both are available in the states

For a while I was using Crew Fiber. Then i started playing around with any other thing I could get in a hockey puck tin but none had the hold. One was some weird wax that stayed in my hair for a week even with daily washings. then my boy sent me some lucido stuff from Japan. It smelled like elmers glue and for some reason I dug that. I also dug that it made my hair look really cool. But I freaked out because I thought I was losing hair because of it. Now I use Crew again. It holds well, it's matte, it's moldable and you can get it anywhere without dropping big bucks.

Yeah, I use Crew Fiber right now, but I'm always open to experimenting with new products. KMS hard wax is prety good too, and I just ordered some of that Gatsby spikey edge. I've also tried the hempseed product by Alterna, but that stuff is hard as heck to wash out.

Okay well here is a picture of me and the wax product I use. I also have very oily fine hair. This picture just shows it. This is what my hair looks like when I don't shampoo it for one day. I am also not using the wax in this picture, when I use the wax it holds real well but after like... 5-6 hours it makes my hair so oily... I don't know if it's just me, maybe the wax is better for you? http://img254.imageshack.us/my.php?image=crewfg7.jpg It's American Crew wax btw.
