Styleforum and A&H present "The Proper Kit" Trunk show in NYC, Nov 7 2015 - Page 18

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

Today's the day!  The Proper Kit will open its doors in four hours, bringing twenty-one brands, one sartorial message board, and over five hundred guests from everywhere for a lovely Saturday in Manhattan.  Please share pics here when you get a chance!

In the mean time, here's a final word of sorts before we begin.  We asked the brands to answer the question "Why should we meet you at The Proper Kit."  Here are there responses.  Appearance by sf's own Jasper Lipton!  Click the photo for the slideshow.

As always, thank you for reading.

Chris

Meh, I'm bidding $450. If no one wants this, I have someone who would love it.

BTW, in increments of $25 or more, guys. Retail is $1500.

Can anybody let me know if Bianca Mosca has any ready- made card holders for sale?

They have ready made card holder on display, not sure if it's for sale

Great meeting many of you! Awesome, awesome event. I passed on a Carmina MTO, which I hope I don't regret. Stupid fiscal responsibility. :/

With how slammed Carmina was, I'd be shocked if it did less than $75,000 today.

Such a great event! Thanks Fok, A&H, and the vendors. A little birdie told me that the trunk show may be going to the West Coast in the Spring.

This was the first trunk show I've checked out, and it was simply fantastic. So, first, thank you to all the vendors and organizers who made it happen!

My main object was to figure out my size in a few makers' RTW lines, and to that end I pestered the hell out of the folks at No Man Walks Alone, and figured out my size in Sartoria Formosa and Eidos Napoli. Greg was as friendly as could be, and offered very good, personalized fit/sizing advice. I'm in the market for a spring/summer blue suit for my wedding and am definitely planning to pick up a SF or EN suit (and perhaps an odd sport jacket) in 2016.

After I liberally imbibed some complementary booze, I set about tracking down the best pair of RTW gray flannel trousers I could find. IME these pants are surprisingly hard to find in a fit I like (mid rise, slim leg), at least for under $400, despite being a menswear staple (allegedly?!?). After trying on several different pairs, I purchased a pair from Panta's "Signature" line. At $250, I'm very pleased with the fit and fabric, and I doubt I could do much better. The difference between Panta's cut and that that of other makers is just a few centimeters here and there, but, for me, Panta's were the best. They had the best drape, clean lines, and didn't pull...of course, for RTW this is extremely personal.

I also chewed the fat with most of the other vendors, and although I wasn't a serious buyer they were happy to tell me all about their brands and let me try on various garments to figure out my size.

Thanks again!

CK

Bianca Mosca thanks Fok and Carey for organising a really great event. We met so many great people and had the chance to expose our work in a wonderful and warm environment. Looking forward to their next trunk show.
