Hi all,

Although I'm usually more of a 5* hotel type of gent, I agreed to take my first cruise in honor of my mother's birthday. It's a 7 day cruise on the Carnival Magic leaving out of Texas in late October...From my understanding, carnival is a less formal cruise line(?)...

SO.... onto the clothing questions.... Thanks in advance to all....

How formal should I pack?

Formal nights....

There are supposedly 2 "formal" nights on our 7 day cruise...I thought about bringing 2 suits...What do you think? 1 suit? 2 suits?

Suit Selection....I thought perhaps a DB and a SB would work well and be quite distinguishable from each other....A light(er) grey DB and a Darker grey w/ blue windowpane SB.....I also thought of maybe a wide Navy pin stripe SB....or a blue nailhead SB......

I have about 20 suits ...and they are pretty much all from Canali... so----I could always change this around a bit.....I wanted to be a bit less businessy so avoided straight navy and charcoal...

Breakfast/dinner....

I really only have 2 summer jackets and will be taking them both for breakfast and dinners in the non-casual eating facilities.

The SC is a light blue... so I thought a pair of white chinos and a white/pink striped shirt...secondary shirt a straight light pink shirt perhaps'

The white summer jacket is actually a blazer....so I was thinking a pair of red chinos paired with an OCBD would keep it casual...Not sure what I should do for a secondary hirt...The white blazer is harder to pair than I thought it would be.

I'm thinking about gettting a 3rd just for the trip....but is it really needed? ...I found a neat navy/wite striped seersuckerSC from loro piana for $900...but...I'm not sure I'd get much out of it beyond going on cruises....

I assume Cashmir SCs are going to be too warm? Or does it get cold out there on the water?

General....

I'lll pack 7 pairsof shorts, 7 polos, 7 Short sleeve shirts, 2-3 pairs of jeans, etc... for the pool/bars/general activities....

Shoes....

Shell 8 tassel loafers with the red chinos/white bazer
Tan Calf tassels for White chinos/blue SC
Shell 8 cap-toe double monks with the SB windowpane
Black Med-toe single monk for the DB light grey
Med bown Chelsea boots for the jeans...
various sports shoes/sandals/etc...

I suppose the 8 shell double monks pulll double duty and I could drop the black med-toe
I also suppose that the 8 shell tassels could work with the jeans so the Chelsea could also go
I'd almost like to drop the tan tassels (the least useful in my opinion), but they go pretty welll with the white chinos

Any suggestions would be appreciated...Once again...thanks in advance...

You'll be better dressed than 99% of the people on the cruise. Don't overthink it. Enjoy it and have fun.
