Only have one, but it's pretty damn good I'd say. 6 fold lined linen piece. Reasonably hefty and pretty dry as linen goes. Depending on pricing, I'd recommend it.

Just got around to catching up on the most recent suits episodes. My eagle eyes noticed Harvey was wearing a Hermes H print tie pictured below (sorry for the crappy pic, it's all I could find). I thought it looked rather unprofessional, I can never take people who wear ties from companies like vineyard vines seriously. Harvey is the mans man who always looks so clean and professional so I thought this was a bad move from the style department. What's everyones thoughts? Do you like jacquard ties? Are they appropriate for a business environment?

Meh, for all the atrocities that can be readily witnessed in that show, a relatively subdued tacky tie doesn't really even register for me...for too many other things to find offensive in the style department

Likely most offensive being Lewis Litt's jacket fits...

Some of these are done intentionally, Louis isn't meant to look as good as Harvey. Mike is meant to have skinny ties and thin lapels. For instance, in one episode Louis says he's been saving a suit for the day he made partner, they actually bought a vintage Brioni for him to wear in that episode so it looks dated. I'm not saying I approve, but the crew does make intentional mistakes.

If you look at how his image has been changed through the show, the crew appears to have slowly widened the skinny lapels and ties slightly from the initial season forward - cleverly subtle in my opinion as he was molded towards Harvey.

As for your initial post on the tie - it's obviously a "Harvey" tie not "Hermes" wink.gif I agree that it was a misstep in keeping true to the character that they've built in Harvey though.

You're definitely correct, even if I find the other outfits (Louis in particular), to be over the top awful.

I would also say Harvey's style has regressed immensely this year. Half of the episodes have seen him wearing hard 3 button jackets, which are majorly cringe worthy in my opinion.

I'm glad someone else saw the 3 button jackets (and unbuttoned double breasted) I actually read an interview where they talk about they are trying to make harvey look bad though this season because things have fallen apart. It's interesting to see Jessica staying on top though, gosh I love that woman.

Average for Neapolitan.  Under Kiton or Borrelli due to lesser quality silks but way over Drakes and others.

Not so sure about that as an absolute statement - perhaps true as a personal preference...

As traditional silk weavers we judge by many criteria and the dye, raw silk quality, weave quality etc is very similar for all those tie makers - very, very good. Occasionally there will be some quality differences but overall very good and very similar - from what I have seen.

Construction is another story and the Italian makers are better than Drakes.

Barba does great shirts, but their ties are not on the same league as my mentioned because the silks they use are cheaper.

I meant that.

If it matters, the tie in question was a wool tie.

I understood you and from what I have seen in stores (a long time ago - maybe things have changed?) the silks used were not cheap and similar to Kiton etc. in quality.

It would be strange for a company to make nice shirts but not nice quality ties.

What exactly do you mean by cheap silk? Light weight - using less silk perhaps or some other criteria? Less weft silk per inch/centimeter? Poor quality dye?

To say cheaper silk is very subjective and I am not sure in this case if it is true.
