Just curious what benefit there is to having the shell on the inside. Doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose of shell cordovan?
Doesn't defeat the purpose in terms of its durability; still just as tough. The reverse side is, as with other leathers, rougher (hence the term "rough-out"), and typically displays less of a shine than the "outside" side, so it presents a lower profile. My first pair of m_moriabc boots was regular shell, but the other two are reverse, because I like the older, rougher look of reverse shell. Take a look at Alessio's newest offering in reverse shell:

pretty fkn cool imo. Less slick, more wabi sabi. In my experience the reverse shell requires just a bit more conditioning, seems to dry out a little quicker. I think the choice is more one of aesthetics.
Hope this helps!

I made a super basic leather tote bag today, Id like to source some more interesting treated leather if anyone knows a source.

Flash sale on my MA+ small accordion bag through the weekend. $820 shipped in the CONUS.

Check my sig.

Lemme know. It's a stunning piece, just not for me.

1000

In other news: new band photos feature me with Layer-0 hat in reverse calf, Geoffrey B Small EVJ03 linen jacket (from Eth0s) and Elena Dawson raw edges shirt from Robin RIchman (great folks to deal with and they stock some PRP).

Cheers.

Anyone handled pieces from Transit Uomo? Never heard of this brand but I'm interested in this linen coat.

I haven't recently, but I own an older jacket and have seen it at Pitti and retailers over the last few seasons. It's sort of like a Last Conspiracy of clothing, if that makes sense - definitely a bit derivative, fixated on providing a product to a specific consumer segment, but some of the clothes might be cool. It's a fairly old Italian brand, all things considered, but the designer has directed it progressively more towards what that piece you've linked looks like (Fok would call it Arte Povera, but it's not really) over the last few seasons, whereas previously the focus was on clothing you could move in, etc. - hence the name "Transit." It was also much less "avant-garde," although I don't think you could call that style avant garde any more. I think they use fewer synthetics now than they used to. I find it less interesting now.

From what I have seen (which is not everything, and most recently was probably 1-2 years ago), I don't think that it's going to blow your mind. It's more like Poeme Bohemien/etc. than like M.A.+, if that makes sense.

Thanks @Synthese for the input.

I definitely see the similarities between Transit and Poeme with the overly faded/dyed designs and other derivatives. Might give it a go with a deeper discount but I'm not too keen on the flap pockets, which I just noticed.

What Synth said is pretty spot on. Having said that, I was at a Transit store a little while ago and handled a bunch of their stuff. If it's quality you're worried about, it's perfectly adequate. If it's anything else, well... do you like the coat or don't you?
