No, there should be an initial acknowledgement regardless. Then the salesperson should know if the customer wants to be left alone or waited on hand-and-foot.

To nicelynice's point, if they're selling $4500 jackets, the salespeople should know how to work with customers.

haha I had the same experience at Super A Market. Hated looking through everything just to find the good stuff, but it was the only place I saw Araki Yuu so I can't complain too much.

Enjoy

^check the cool metal buttons on the fly.

^this is some amazing stitching all around the waistband. Anyone have a name for it; is it a known process? I have no idea, but it sure does look bad-ass.

^the texture of the wool/ramie blend is soooo sweet.

We should start a thread: "Favorite Designer Whose Clothes I Can't Wear." Wait. It probably exists already, right? Nuthin' new under the sun.

Sooo tried to buy LUC linen pants from PNP but after paying they apologized for mixup and said they didn't have my size. Thanks to @docdocgs giving me detailed photos and fit info, I decided to take the risk and try the Taichi pants in sz 6 instead since my wallet was already metaphorically out.

They just arrived, and they fit me perfectly, better than LUC/Layer-0! Kind of like CCP but actually comfy. Basically just what I was hoping for because my previous favorite pattern was MA+ but the low rise and boot cut [and astronomical price] turned me off.

Fabric is very "Taichi": wool/ramie blend that's a bit scratchy but soft, medium rise that's roomy but doesn't inhibit movement (unlike his jeans cut). Bonus is it's lined in cotton so the wool isn't scratchy on the skin.

Also worn my GBS coat today. The antique linen fabric is so good. All the 'textural interest' makes it almost look embroidered at a glance.

Lastly, anyone got recommendations for work bags of the following two types? (1) Shoulder/messenger bag on the smaller side that fits a macbook and a book or two, or (2) Weekender / carry-all type that can hold macbook plus a large amount of gym gear / a bunch of clothes.

I currently use a Cote & Ciel backpack but want something single strap (posture be damned!) and a little more ~artisanal~.

Awesome, man! SO glad you like them, and that they actually FIT! They are pretty amazing. At least I'll get to enjoy them vicariously (once you post some fit pics!). Glad I could be helpful.

Spent the afternoon at lift/gullam today trying everything on and being generally annoying smile.gif Went back and tried on some Araki Yuu too, cuts don't really work for me but this jacket was way cool.

... now someone convince me not to sell half my wardrobe so I can crossdress in women's ma+ (apparently I'm a 38 women's and a 44-48 mens, god the sizing is completely whack)

I don't see why it's so hard for my wife to understand why I need the same Paul Harnden jacket in three different lengths, geez

I got to see and handle Deepti at the archive yesterday. I really liked a blazer, it was made from ramie. Unfortunately the rest of the collection was not stand out at all for me. I honestly found it boring and derivative. It feels like they took Carol'a stuff and added zigzag patterns. I appreciate the effort but I think there's too much hype surrounding deepti.

How do you make this assessment, seeing that Deepti was the pattern maker at CCP for many many years and the output from Carol's last several collections was with deepti also involved in the process?

That's what I got with the leather jacket when I passed by Atelier; zigzag CCP. Kinda shorter in length and without the shine/oiled look.

I'm not familiar with up to what extent Deepti was involved while in CCP but I don't think pattern maker automatically equals designer. Maybe Carol designed and Deepti did the pattern making?

your statement speaks to my point which is that the collection derives from CCP because the person worked there. And this point the collection seems too close to CCP, I think a few collections later something interesting may come.

The pattern making was probably the weakest part of ccp because everything fits like shit, but the design is spectacular

Assuming I understand what a pattern maker actually does
