It seems I was correct, but this guy definitely overexaggerates things (and Geoffrey was quite harsh himself). I wasn't interested in this market back then (and I was too young anyway) so my opinion doesn't matter much but it hasn't lead to Carpe's downfall for sure since there were no Carpe's downfall. It was just shut down and definitely not because of the lack of demand from customers.
The issue of Guidi making similar designs is indeed real (however their lasts are original for sure and we've seen MUCH worse examples of almost-blatant copying, mostly by a1923), and the issue of selling their salesman to the same boutiques which were selling Carpe is real indeed. It's shrewd but it's, well, business. This is why Guidi were called businessmen, not artisans.
Let me find the original post: http://stylezeitgeist.com/forums/showpost.php?p=30408&postcount=30
And if I can name any person who stands for its word about what happened back then it would be Geoffrey indeed.

yea i missed the link.

Altieri is bouncing back with MM so all is well, i just wanna see some zip boots. But i can go to MA+ for that which i still think is the closest thing to CD. A1923 has plenty of cool designs where thy don't need to do the "copy/Inspiration" thing.

Guidi has some cool shit but i won't wear their sock like stuff.

edit: and Invoice in Fukuoka

Also, here's the designer's instagram (I think?) for all you real stalkers

https://www.instagram.com/phillip.robert/

I went to Invoice yesterday. The shop is in a nondescript back street in Fukuoka and at first looks like an on trend Japanese mens shop with lots of Goretex and baggy 3/4 sleeve t shirts. Then you turn a corner at the back and behind a white sheet is a small room of Elena Dawson and a tiny amount of PR Patterson. So odd but not unexpected after being in Japan for a while. PR Patterson wise there were only boots, 2 t shirts, a tunic style shirt and trousers (the same fabric and cut @thatoneguy has posted about before). The boots didn't have the bronze toe cap and I thought the shape and style was underwhelming, especially for around 170,000 yen. The t shirts and tunic were in a nice linen fabric but were pretty boring.

I would have got some pictures but the only lighting in the room was a spotlight pointing at the wall and the guy running the shop kept poking his head round the sheet and seemed confused that people were in his shop. Ah Japan.

Our local movie theater (Amherst Cinema) was showing Akira and let folks know they would be offering pro photo shoots of people holding up signs where they write what they like about the place. I would have worn my Harnden regardless but it's nice that I ended up with a cool head shot.

Now it's even funnier to see it gets lifted for an article about me and my open mic night. You can read it here if you're so inclined.

Life is funny sometimes.

LEB leather, worth the $$$$? mulling over ordering a horse leather distortion jacket with the classic collar from Holger.

I like the idea behind LEB's anfractuous distortion but I wonder how long will he keep using that idea as the basis of his design. He started out with a lot of promise and I hope he doesn't end up being a 1-trick pony.

As for the jacket, I'd get one since I really like the design and it's not CCP/BBS price level either. It's just that I have a bunch of jackets in rotation and it's becoming warmer lately.

Just picked up these linen trousers by Ziggy Chen on the Hotveli sale.

Extremely nice fabric, cut and color and should work well this summer. Not bad for $339 (down from $565) shipped (in the US). Still a 46 and 48 left. They run TTS.

What's the inseam (and size if you don't mind) on your pair?
Not at all.

Inseam on my size 50 is really short at 27" but the rise is 13.5"

I'm 5'6" and they fit me perfectly. But definitely not for the tall dudes.

Gullam continues reading SZ (and maybe here?? Hello???) and picks up another awesome overseas brand - GBS.

http://gullam.jp/blog/26044.html

@AlexanderTG Is the herringbone linen jacket the same as yours? I don't need any more blazers, but I will go check this stuff out, especially as I like Gullam a lot more than the other GBS stockist here (John Bull Labo, which is like a J. Crew that stocks GBS and Lemaire for some reason)

Also, finally gave up looking for a cool raincoat and bought a PH Ventile Cotton Mac in black, Womens M size ... ~on eBay~

Nicely,

That looks similar to mine but the buttons aren't mother of pearl and the lapel peaks are higher than mine (an EVJ03, one of four made for all of Asia).

Wearing mine right now. Kopping some GBS linen trousers from IF tomorrow. I got the fever.

Plus, Geoffrey is willing to chat about styles, sizing and all kinds of stuff.

Interested to hear your take on it.

Mine.
